a children's story

By Mark GrahamPublished 2 years ago 1 min read
Perdy (my own)

That night after his and Flighty's visit to the old barn Perdy had a lot of questions come into his mind. The first question would have to be 'Who planned all those events and dances?' The toys that were left also raised a few questions and he wondered if Gus would like to live in that old dollhouse that the found. Then Perdy decided to get some sleep and start asking more questions like 'What if these woods actually had a name?'

That night Perdy had a dream. It was not a bad dream or a nightmare, but a dream that took him to the barn, but it was not falling down and it was a red barn and there seemed to be all sorts of people there. They were dancing, eating and drinking and a lot of singing as well. Perdy could almost taste the food that was there. In his dream he walked around and listened to what was being said. One woman stated that she thought this dance was not really necessary and another woman thought that this town of Whitson needed a grand way to say 'Welcome, All!' So Perdy heard he lives in the woods near Whitson. He continued to walk around and listen some more and he heard that these woods had something special about them and too bad they did not have a name. He also heard some others, but there were so many speaking Perdy could not make out what they were all saying. Could they have been sharing what the woods were named or not. That was when Perdy woke up.

Perdy found a piece of paper and a pencil and wrote down 'Whitson'. Could this have also been the name of the woods with no name 'Whitson Woods' or did the woods go by another name. His quest continues.
