Once a Friend, Now an Enemy

A long time ago in a castle, there was a boy named Conner. Conner was a commoner living inside the castle walls. He was able to live there because inside the castle, there is a range of houses, shops, and fields for commoners to roam and play. Conner was a higher class commoner with a little more money than normal commoners. Conner had commoner friends that he liked to spend time with and talk to. Every day he and his two other friends would go out to an empty field and play games and even invent new games to play when they got bored. Conner was 14 and all of his friends are also his age. His friends' names were Cole and Sasha.

One day Conner and his friends decided to roam around the shops instead of going into an empty field to play. They all had brought a little bit of money so they could be able to buy something to eat. Cole decided he wanted to eat a chicken kabob, Conner wanted a turkey sandwich, and Sasha wanted to have a porkchop. Once they had bought their food, they decided to go sit on a bench and eat.

“This porkchop sure is really good, do any of you want some?” Sasha had asked.

“Thanks for your offer but I don’t want to take your food from you” Cole had said. Conner agreed that he would stick to his own food instead of taking some of Sashas food.

“Hey Conner, let's go check out the horse stalls. Sasha you stay here and finish your porkchop, we won’t take too long.” Cole had suggested it to Conner. Conner had agreed to go to the horse stalls with him to see what kind of horses they had there.

“Ok, don’t take too long,” Sasha had said.

Cole had told Conner to follow him so that he could lead him to the back of the horse stalls. What Conner didn’t know was why Cole had been so interested with the horse stalls. Cole had a plan to “get rid of Conner.” But what Cole didn’t know was that Conner had learned from his father how to fight. His father had taught Conner how to fight for self defense whenever it was needed.

Once they had gotten to the back of the stalls, Cole had attacked Conner with a strike to the back of his head. Conner had fallen forward but wasn’t knocked out. He hit the rough ground with a thud and had been scraped up from the fall. Conner immediately looked up and saw Cole try to pounce on him, so he quickly pushed himself out of the way. After getting out of the way of Cole's attack, he quickly stood up and stood confused. Not knowing what was going on, Conner had run off towards where they had left Sasha sitting on the bench.

“Sasha you have to help me, Cole has gone crazy! He hit me in the back of the head and tried to keep attacking me.” Conner had said frantically.

“Look out, he's right behind you!” Conner had turned around to see Cole dashing towards him with a murderous look in his eyes. Conner didn’t know what Cole was thinking or going to do next so he sprinted off in a hurry looking for some guards. He ran as fast as he could, looking everywhere for guards to help him. He glanced back as he was running and saw Cole, still on his trail and chasing after him. Conner had made it to the front of the royale gate. He shouted out as he saw the guards standing in front of the gate, keeping out dangers that might harm the king and his family. The guards saw Conner sprinting towards the gate, followed by Cole.

“Help, this guy is trying to kill me!!!” Conner had said hurrying to get behind the guards as they stood in a defense position. Once Conner had got behind the guards, the guards had grabbed Cole and put him in handcuffs. Sasha had shown up moments later to see that Cole was being dragged into the royal palace. Sasha had stopped the guards, wanting to talk to Cole.

“Cole, I’ve known you for a long time, why would you try to kill Conner?” Sasha had said, confused.

“Someone had offered me a lot of money to kill him. They said if I killed Conner they would give me $1,000. $1,000 from that era had converted to $25,000 as of today.

“Who had offered you this money you speak of?” Sasha said.

“You’ll never know,” Cole replied.

After that, Sasha had ordered the guards to lock Cole up for 20 years. They bowed and thanked the prince as they took Cole to his cell.

“Wait, you’re the prince?!?!?” Conner exclaimed, excited and confused to know that his friend was the prince of the kingdom.

“Yea, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier but if I had told you, you could have revealed my identity. If that were to happen people would come after me and hold me for ransom to get money from my father.” Sasha had explained.

Sasha later explained the rest of what he had been hiding from Conner. Conner was still shocked at the fact that Sasha, of all people, was the prince! After that incident with Cole, Conner had thought and learned that even though someone is your friend, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful around them. After that day had passed, Sasha and Conner had become even closer as friends and they never heard or saw anything from Cole again.
