Musqee and Donatello

Running the 'Race' against Kalala. 🐢🐇

By Antoni De'LeonPublished 12 months ago 6 min read

"Who will win the race do you think"? Musqee asked Donatello as they stood pondering the length of the race course.

🐇Kalala stood watching the two sulking Mhares as she waited patiently for them to decide who would compete with her. She did not trust either one of them, one was a cunning fox and the other a conundrum wrapped in a really scary riddle. An unknown enigma, both of them were unsuitable to race with her, but she had no choice in the matter. The entire underserved Mhare population was counting on her to emerge as the winner.

Musqee and Donatello were wildcards, well know to be supported by various wealthy, invisible factions. They would have powerful and strong allies operating beyond where the regular Mhare citizens had no reach or say whatsoever.

If Kalala had any chance of being victorious, she must come up with clever ways to reach the finish line before they do.

.....

The Enchanting History of MHareville

For as long as any Mhare can remember, the town was a verdant meadow where denizens of all kinds would gather. This meadow, with its abundant flora and fauna, became the foundation of what is now known as MHareville.

The land was first settled by a group of pioneers who sought a haven where they could thrive away from the frightening cities of humans. Led by the wise and visionary Elder Thistle, they discovered the lush meadow and established a peaceful, harmonious community. Cozy burrows, cultivated carrot farms, and other businesses thrived, prompting the establishment of a council to govern their new home.

The Golden Carrot Era: The discovery of the Golden Carrot marked a significant chapter in MHareville's history. This mythical carrot, said to possess magical properties, had been found by the young rabbit, Pippin. The Golden Carrot brought prosperity and growth to the town, ensuring bountiful harvests and attracting strangers from far and wide. During this era, MHareville flourished, becoming a vibrant hub of culture and trade.

The Great MHare Games: As the city grew, so did its love for sport and competition. The Great Games were established as an annual event, bringing together sports enthusiasts from all corners of the meadow to compete in various challenges. This tradition not only fostered a sense of camaraderie but also solidified MHareville's reputation as a community of agile and spirited citizens.

...

As the population grew, the elders found it necessary to elect a strong Mhare to lead the entire town, as Elder Thistle would soon retire. It was decided that whomever won the special race would be their new leader.

The Enchanted Forest Alliance: One fateful day, an unusual alliance was formed between MHareville and the mystical creatures of the Enchanted Forest. With the help of the wise owl, Professor Hoot, and the cunning fox, Sir Reynard, the wealthy Mhares of MHareville built a protective enchantment around their town. This alliance ensured the safety and well-being of all inhabitants, creating a strong bond between the rich Mhares and their magical neighbors.

.....

Today, MHareville is a thriving community where tradition meets modernity. The Carrot Temple stands as a nod to its rich history, while the lively village square reflects its vibrant present. The Mhares continue to honor their heritage through festivals, storytelling, and of course, the ever-exciting races that have become a beloved pastime.

....

The race topography

The view is panoramic and picturesque, a wonderland where the countryside burst into life with color and vibrance. An array of wildflowers paint hills and meadow in wonderous hues of purple, yellow, and blue. Tall, ancient oak trees stand like guardians along the paths, their leaves rustling secrets to the wind.

The race track starts at the edge of the quaint village square, meandering past cobblestone streets lined with charming cottages and cozy cafés. The square is a hub of activity, with cheerful villagers and their pets providing a lively backdrop to the race's beginning.

From the square, the track snakes through the verdant fields, where sunflowers smile and butterflies flutter about, creating a mesmerizing dance of colors. The air is filled with the melodious songs of birds perched on branches.

Next, the track dives into the Tricky Tunnel, an intricate labyrinth of underground passages lit by bioluminescent fungi casting an ethereal glow. The cool, damp air within the tunnel contrasts with the warm sun outside, creating a refreshing change as racers navigate their way through the maze.

Upon emerging from the tunnel, the racers find themselves in the heart of the Enchanted Forest. Towering pines and majestic oaks form a natural canopy, their leaves filtering sunlight into dappled patterns on the forest floor. The ground is carpeted with soft moss, and the air is rich with the earthy aroma of pine needles and wild herbs.

As the track leads out of the forest, it approaches Bunny Bluff, with the distant Carrot Temple signaling their goal. The path down the bluff is lined with tricky switchbacks and rocky outcrops, challenging the racers' agility and focus. Finally, the track winds through the ancient trees and a babbling brook, whose crystal-clear waters provide a calming soundtrack to the final stretch of the race.

Kalala often wonders why the path to victory was so fraught with nooks, crannies and dubiously beautiful pathways. Was it within these mazes and tunnels that plots and plans were concocted by the might and wealth of the few, to foil the unsuspecting competitor, thus causing them to lose the race.

.....

The finish line at the Carrot Temple is a grand sight, with towering arches and intricate carvings, alluding to MHareville's rich history and vibrant culture. As the racers cross the line, they're greeted by the cheers of the villagers and the scent of freshly baked carrot cake, a fitting end to an exhilarating race.

Here, every Mhare dreams of running, not just for the thrill of the race, but for the sheer joy of experiencing such an enchanting landscape.

.....

Alright, let's hop into this adventure!

.....

Donatello and Musqee, were renowned for their incredible racing skills and, of course, their knack for mischief. The duo loved a good race, not just for the thrill but for the elaborate pranks they played along the way.

One sunny morning, as they were basking in their glory by the MHareville Carrot Café, news of a new challenger spread like wildfire. Enter Kalala, a slower racer, but was savvy and a highly favored female contender who had heard a lot about Donatello and Musqee's antics. She decided it was time to teach these two a lesson.

The race was set for high noon. The trail was a winding path through fields, a tricky forest, and the daunting Bunny Bluff. The finish line? The entrance of the ancient Carrot Temple at the heart of MHareville.

As they lined up at the starting point, Kalala eyed the boys suspiciously. She knew they'd try to outsmart her, so she needed to be one step ahead.

“Ready... Set... Go!” The horn tooted.

Donatello and Musqee bolted, plotting their first trick: the infamous “Banana Peel Trail.” But when they reached their stash of banana peels, Kalala had already been there, replacing them with strawberries. As they slipped and slid into each other, Kalala breezed past them, chuckling.

Next up was the Tricky Tunnel, known for its confusing pathways. Donatello and Musqee had rigged the tunnel with a maze that led to a pond. However, Kalala had anticipated this. She used her secret weapon: a map she had 'borrowed' from their hideout, replacing it with a fake version. With the map in hand, she navigated the tunnels effortlessly while the boys found themselves splashing around in the pond.

Drenched but undeterred, Donatello and Musqee sprinted towards Bunny Bluff. They planned to use their "Fake Bridge" trick here. But Kalala had sabotaged their fake bridge, making it lead back to the start. While the boys ran in circles, she hopped across the real bridge, skillfully hidden behind a bush.

By now, the race was nearing its climax. The boys were exhausted, covered in mud and water, but they had one last trick up their furry sleeves: the "Invisibility Cloak." They donned their cloaks, thinking they’d sneak past Kalala. But Kalala, always the clever one, had anticipated this and set up a motion-detection sprinkler system near the finish line.

As the competitors pranced invisibly towards victory, they were suddenly doused in water, their cloaks no longer effective. Kalala sped past them, crossing the finish line with a triumphant leap.

🐢

Cheers erupted from the crowd as Kalala was crowned the new champion of MHareville. Donatello and Musqee, dripping wet and outsmarted, frowned distastefully. They had met their match, and hurried away, grumbling about unfairness and tricks which should not be tolerated.

Kalala, now the proud winner, was free to make everything fair and equal for all the Mhare citizens.
