(This post is Part II check the previous post for part one of the teasers.)

When you start a company they tell you to have a financial safety net, that way if you fall, the net will catch you. Well, I had fallen directly through that net and had sacrificed my car as well.

I parked the car outside of my house (not the house of a multi-millionaire businessman that I felt entitled to become).

I took a deep breath and apologized before going into the home. I then returned to the car, and we headed for the same meeting once again, only this time I was going to be very late.

We drove to the meeting in silence, but there was a fire in my mind the entire way.

I was thankful for my stubbornness. My stubbornness had turned into perseverance. I may have been down but I was still going to take that money and invest it in myself and my dream that I would become a multi-millionaire businessman after all.

On that car ride, I resolved I'd be the man I set out to be, the successful business owner of wealth and plenty, even if it meant a stay in the poor house first.

My procrastination, my failure to stay committed, and my bad attitude were crippling me, and yet, only my winners never quit stubbornness was keeping me in the fight.

Even if I was getting pummeled to a pulp, I was still in the fight.

As we got closer to the landlord's office I began to indulge in some good old-fashioned self-pity.

Poor me I thought as I got an odd pleasure from relieving myself from the responsibility of my circumstances. I quickly felt much better about myself but was bitter with the injustice.

How does a wonderful, deserving person like myself get here, instead of where I belong. The blame game continued until the point that I even accused my fiance and child of fault while I released myself of all responsibility.

All this pondering, and soon I arrived at that office.

I decided to forgive all parties involved even the comfy bed that forced me to stay asleep. The world knew that I deserved more and I thought so too.

I was feeling righteous for forgiving the world and was ready for better treatment, as I stepped out of the vehicle.

The fresh crisp air reminded me of my fresh start that I was thankful to have. I floated into my landlord's office on a cloud of joy and confidence.

After I handed him the envelope filled with my investment, I wasn't even bothered when he made conversation with me.

Out of joy I sat down, got comfortable, and began laughing with the man like we were friends.

Unfortunately, I had forgotten that my landlord, Mr. Brown had a reputation for being immensely long-winded. Some tenants and renters took it as far as accusing Mr. Brown of owning ridiculous amounts of properties solely for the chance to talk to any fellow about his theories.

People believed he would accept late rent without fees in-person just to have a pulse instead of a screen to hear his words and grand ideas. In the past, my interactions with him had been short to avoid confirming the rumors.

Today, was the first time I was in the position to find out what all the hype was about.

I never had believed the hype and when I met Mr. Brown I was feeling nothing but joy. This man was truly a man to admire.

I was one of hundreds maybe thousands of people that rented from Mr. Brown, and we all paid rent, even me.

As the laughing subsided I became very excited that maybe meeting Mr. Brown was my luck turning around for the better.

Mr. Brown's wristwatch made me squint. I was feeling bold and confident when he asked

"Do you have time for a story, old friend?"

After three years of renting from him and being late on every payment, he considered me a friend. I barely nodded before Mr. Brown's loud voice began to lecture me.

He spoke loud and with passion,

"I have recently heard of a substantial amount of land for an unbelievably low price. The price is so low because the path leading up to the land is very long and no one is sure how long it takes to get there. The path also cannot sustain horses or cars the only transportation is by foot. The value of the deal is beyond fascinating. The owner is a descendant of one of the long-lost kings of this land. I wish to discover this land because of my love of history. The chance to study ancient governments, an entire untouched civilization would make my studies worthy of being published..."

He continued to talk but I felt my time was too valuable to listen to him ramble. When I tuned back in, it seemed I had not missed a beat.

He continued

" But again, no one knows how long it will take to see these mysterious acres of land. I have wanted to purchase this amazing deal. I just need a partner and out of all my business properties, you stand out to me as the best partner."

Just then his assistant walked in with a smile. She looked right at me and asked

"Mr. Ambitous, If everyone reached their full potential, would we run out of resources to compensate all those succeeding? Considering that Mr. Brown now waste his precious resource of time rambling on-"

Mr. Brown swiftly interrupts his extremely intelligent associate and then proudly announces

"Because everyone does the status quo and gets compensated, that ensures there is no lack of resources to compensate ANY individual. Unfortunately, this form of compensation is not based on value but based on time, which is limited. Compensation is not based on value, the only people getting paid in value are those, like myself, who create ways in which to develop valuable products and execute valuable plans. The folk who understand this are more worried about increasing their value than giving away their time"

His associate and he politely rushed me out of the office, but one sentence kept swirling around in my head.

Mr. Brown had said

"The folk who understand this are more worried about increasing their value than giving away their time"

"The folk who understand this are more worried about increasing their value than giving away their time"

It bounced around in my head until I realized that this could be my lucky day after all...
