“Let me check the eBay auction first,” I called to my husband. He wanted to grab sushi for dinner. Accessing my sales page, I clicked on the horse figurine listing.

“Hey, you ready?” my husband asked.

“You pick it up without me.”

“Okay. Be back in ten or so,” he said.

Finding the horse figurine on the counter, I put it inside my purse, and slung it over my shoulder. My other arm reached for my two pets, now inside their carrier. With them, I exited my life.

Mom had been right about keeping this one in the box.
