Mia for a Moment
Written and illustrated by Emily-Rose Braithwaite

Ice Rink
Mia was 4. She wore purple Wellington boots with grey leggings and a fluffy pink jumper. Her blonde hair tumbled to her shoulders.
My friend said to me. "Could you please watch Mia for a moment?"
She passed Mia into my arms. Mia beamed at me with a cute innocent smile…
“Can I get down and play, just for a moment?”
“Ok Mia, just for a moment…”
It was winter, and the ground was crisp and cold. Mia giggled and raced… towards the town ice rink.
“Mia come back!” My heart skipped a beat. Onto the ice, she ran in her purple Wellington boots. Slipping and sliding with absolute joy.
I ran after her, she ran faster, I slipped on my bottom and Mia giggled.
Sheep Pen

“Can I get down and play, just for a moment?”
“Ok Mia, just for a moment…”
It was spring, the flowers were blooming and we were visiting a farm for the day. Mia giggled and raced… towards the sheep pen!
"Mia come back!" My heart skipped a beat.
Into the sheep pen, she ran, squeezing through the fence.
Cuddled up with a soft sleeping lamb she was when I reached her at the sheep pen.
Ice cream

“Can I get down and play just for a moment?”
“Ok Mia, just for a moment…”
It was a hot summer's day, we could hear the song of the ice cream truck nearby. Mia ran towards the ice cream truck in her pink sparkly sandals.
"Mia come back!" My heart skipped a beat.
"Ten ice creams please" she beamed at the ice cream man.
She sat in a puddle of blue bubble gum ice cream when I finally caught up with her.
Rocket Ship
My friend said to me. "Could you please watch Mia for a moment?"
She passed Mia into my arms. Mia beamed at me with a cute innocent smile…
“Can I get down and play, just for a moment?”
“Ok Mia, just for a moment…”
It was Autumn. The leaves were a brilliant orange and we were enjoying a picnic in the park along a woodland track. Mia giggled and raced toward the tallest rocket ship slide in the park.
"Mia come back!" My heart skipped a beat.
I ran after Mia, Mia ran faster.
"Weeeeeeeeee!" sang Mia as she slid down the slide.
Popcorn
My friend said to me. "Could you please watch Mia for a moment?"
She passed Mia into my arms. Mia beamed at me with a cute innocent smile…
“Can I get down and play, just for a moment?”
“Ok, Mia. It’s a rainy day today, let’s watch a movie.”
“Oooo fun movie she said”
And she sat on the beanbag with a bowl of popcorn like a little angel until her mummy returned.
The End.
