the cell phone bag that Lillian had gifted to Fig for her birthday

The officer instructed Fig to stay put with the other people on dry land while they took the rescue boat back into the flooded street to pick up Fig's kids and any others they could see. Fig was worried that her kids would not respond to the help since she had told them not to open the door.

"Officer," she pleaded with them before they sent the boat again, "I specifically told my children not to open the door until I returned. They probably won't come out even if they hear you or see the boat."

The officer with the wetsuit on nodded in understanding.

"What's your name?" he asked considering how to go about the situation.

"Anabel Figness Marcella," she told him clearly understanding where he was going with this, "Say the whole name, that should do it."

The officer in the wetsuit with the boat nodded in agreement, then headed down the flooded street with the rescue boat.

Mario had been looking out of the bedroom window. He could see the man in the wetsuit pulling the boat through the water towards their house.

"Anya!" he said excited, "I think Mom found help."

"She told us to wait here and keep the door shut," Anya reminded her brother of Fig's instructions, but she joined Mario at the window to see what he was talking about.

"Yeah," Mario said thinking, "But what about Uncle Georgio? What if this is his only chance to get to a doctor in time?"

Anya didn't reply. She was nervous and worried and wanted to do as her mother had said.

The officer in the water with the rescue boat was in front of Georgio's house. He pulled out a megaphone and began calling out through it.

"Attention! Attention!" the rescue officer called, "Residents! We have a boat to lead you out of the water. Dry land is at the end of the street."

"You see?" Mario said to Anya, "This is our rescue." He was about to run to the bedroom door and open it, but Anya grabbed his arm and stopped him.

"Wait!' Anya demanded. "Slow down. We need to prepare first and think carefully." Mario paused and paid attention to his sister. Even if she was younger than him, she was highly intelligent and he respected her opinions.

Anya went to the desk where Fig had left her cellphone purse. Anya threw the purse over her body then went back to the bedroom window and opened it completely.

She put her head out the window and yelled loudly at the rescue officer.

"My mother told us to wait here for her!" she told him.

Again through the megaphone the officer responded, "Is your mother Anabel Figness Marcella?"

"Yes!" Anya replied nodding and a big smile came over her face. She looked at her brother and gave him a thumbs up. Mario smiled and opened the bedroom door.
