“Rocket, launch!” a little boy shouted, pointing at a very pretty girl.
Suddenly, a group of what looked like kindergartens start to run full force at the pretty little girl.
“Stop it!” the brunette girl yelled while her legs were shivering.
The giant office door opened, and the girl’s eyes jolted immediately to the door to see her mom.
“Mommy I-“
“Oh my god Marilynn what happened?!” her mom interrupted as soon as she saw the dry blood across her daughter’s fragile face.
“Here, follow me and we’ll further discuss this,” the man who works at the school stated, walking to an room containing a desk and some chairs.
The mother of the bruised girl named Marilynn followed the man and took a seat in one of the chairs. Marilynn’s eyes wander throughout the office. Then she sits next to her mom a little nervous.
Marilynn starts to speak without warning,
“A bunch of mean boys was playing rocket at recess and they run into me and it hurt.”
The mother and the office man glance at each other and looks back at the one telling the story. She didn’t say anything else and just made a pouting face.
“Why did they do that?” the office man asked her with a soft tone.
“I don’t know! They was saying how pretty I was and it very confused me,” she complained.
The room was quiet for a second, because neither of the other two understood what the 5 year old meant.
“Honey, how did you get that scrape across your face?” her mom asks
“Oh, the fence scraped my face very hard,” she puts her hand up to her face and flinches out of pain.
The man puts slaps palms against the office desk and puts his focus to the mom, “Ok so this is how we’ll sort this out. I will speak to their parent’s and make sure they don’t hurt this little one again.”
In fact, the bullying did not stop. As poor Marilynn got older, it just would get worse. Society’s standards are really high in 2036, and almost no one meets them. It would be rare to see someone not wearing a hint of makeup, otherwise they could get in trouble. Because no one met the standards, everyone wore makeup to hide what is “ugly”. Everyone was jealous of Marilynn, because they’d say she has a perfect face. She doesn’t have to wear any makeup. And so, she just got prettier and prettier as she grew up. The jealousy could ruin so many things. When she was in kindergarten, thats when it all started to escalate.
“Smile for the picture!” the friendly looking teacher told everyone, pointing the camera at the teens.
Snap!
10 high quality pictures slowly printed out, one by one. Marilynn sighed and got off of the steps to go grab a photo like the other students were doing. Students were sighing or making a face at the photo, and Marilynn knew exactly why.
Marilynn grabs a stamp and turns the photo over and press down the stamp. It read, “Class of 2035-2036 9th grade”. Unexpectedly, she feels a painful pinch near her ear. She jolts her head to see someone pulling on her ear, who is considered her "friend".
Marilynn covers her ear in pain, and says, "Ouch, what is it?!"
"Dunno, I am bored, we should play a game together," a girl with frizzy blond hair says and sits at the desk next to Marilynn.
"Okay, what sort of game?"
"Classic truth or dare," the other girl states and puts her hands on the desk, looking enthusiastic.
"Fine, I'll ask first. Truth or dare Abby?"
"Dare, hit me."
"I dare you to ask that girl out over there," Marilynn smerks at Abby.
Abby makes a face and pulls on her ear again. Marilynn gasps in pain.
"Im not gay though, oh my god your ear is seriously bleeding!" Abby laughs, and points to her ear.
"Do the dare, or your a wuss," Marilynn changes the topic. Abby sighs and walks over to a girl with short hair, almost like a bob cut.
Marylinn watches them from afar, holding her ear. That was one thing she didn't like about Abby, she pulls on her ear so much it starts to bleed sometimes. It's because she had such "perfect ears" and hers were "too big".
"You tricked me! She was actually gay oh my god," Abby complains.
Marilynn study's Abby's face for a second and asks, "What's wrong with being gay?"
She in fact did not get a response.
"My turn, I dare you to run head first into the classroom door, that would be so funny."
"No way, the teacher will think I'm crazy, and everyone will see!"
Marilynn ended up finding herself standing a short distance from the door. She run's head first into the door, causing a loud bang the whole classroom heard. She wobbles a bit, because of how bad it hurt. The only one laughing was Abby."
"Is that the whole story? You seriously need to drop her, she is a bad friend." Marylinn's mother says.
She stares at her mother, then glances away thinking of what to say.
"I know, she pulls my ear so much I think it might be infected. It really hurts right now."
Her mom looks at her ear, then freaks out because it's purple!
"It's purple, we got to go to the emergency room right now."
"No it's fine, I'm just a bit sick."
"Honey-"
"It's fine mom, I want to be alone right now."
Marilynn storms out of the room.
