Luck Was Not On Their Side
Word of the day : Waylay

George turns down a gravel road looking for the perfect picnic spot but minutes later he feels the steering tug to the left, realising they have a flat tyre.
As he pulls off the road he remembers he doesn’t have a spare.
Always the opportunist, George suggests to Paula they enjoy their picnic anyway and worry about getting home later.
Unbeknown to the couple, the flat tyre was a set up, caused by the nails strategically placed upon the road. A ruse the local gangs use to waylay travellers.
They’re soon left with nothing more than the clothes they wear.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
