Lucifer: The Betrayed

A different version to Satan

By Jose EscaleraPublished 4 years ago 7 min read

Born from existence, nurtured by time, I and the concepts were the beginning of the universe. The bible would sound accurate if some names were to be changed and some stories deleted. Maybe because manipulation was an essential part in the making. You see, I am being framed, defamed, set up like I am nothing but the embodiment of betrayal. All because the concepts of sins manifested against me for not complying with their absolute desires. But first, I must paint the picture, sketch to understand this fraudulent frame that cost me my freedom and ruined what I created.

Eons are but an infinitesimal measurement in comparison to the lives I have gone through and the amount of time I have existed. It is as if Aleph numbers became reality, I have existed for infinities upon infinities of super-eons. There is no beginning, for I existed before the concept and there cannot be an end, for I am beyond it. The “Big Bang”, as you humans call, was not my birth, or the birth of anyone for that matter, but the beginning of my drunken-like desire to create and observe that which falls under my all-seeing sight. Of course, there is so much complexity in making something that has yet to be conceptualized, me being the only sentient existence in a blank canvas that is waiting and encouraging to be painted, as well as become meaningful to an extent.

First, the materials of construction are to be limited, as to not complicate the ordeal of creation. A batch of atoms flowed through like spores on a spring morning, right after a gentle breeze disperses it. And to spice it up, gravity was attributed so that collision becomes a factor of a domino effect that I do not have to be part of to manufacture. It all escalated quickly (for me, time is something I dictate, control, and manipulate, therefore, quickly could be an understatement as well as an overstatement) and from then on, atoms collided, stars were formed, elements came to be, galaxies emerged, planets developed, and so on the same scientific history you humans venerate so much.

This project of mine was very simple, since I took no part in anything, for I just helped push the first domino. Nevertheless, I grew tired of seeing how anything with essence took a tad bit too long, so to speed things a little, I added concepts, such as will, emotions, pleasure, instincts, etc. The primal aspects for something to at least thrive from this ball of dirt and water you so unfathomably will destroy in the future, this so-called home, Earth.

Of course, Neanderthals, homo sapiens, and all the like were a very interesting view of how survival looks under the influence of consciousness or awareness of others, making them cooperate and thrive amongst as a group. But unfortunately, to satiate my thirst for new and fast-approaching results, I, Lucifer, decided that creating seven core concepts that may sweeten the existence of these feeble beings for my entertainment would be a grandiose idea, certainly, this cannot go wrong in any way. Oh, how erroneous I was.

Later in the line, humanity became the most “advanced” species in the dirt-filled oblate spheroid and naturally, their ego undoubtedly rose higher and higher. To clarify some things, I do not know what happens after they become meat sacks without thought, because I cannot experience what they feel, you know, the all-existing and never-dying thing I mentioned earlier. Secondly, I only manipulate the concepts and time, anything related to living entities is outside of my will, it is their fault if anything malicious occurs.

In the beginning, it was as I expected, wrath and lust would be the dominants and the other five would remain dormant for the time being. Wrath, the sin of rage and hatred, those which succumb to the hateful desire of destruction and chaos, those that are blinded by themselves in a fit of uncontrollable emotions. Lust, the sin of interest and love, those which are entranced with sexual needs, those that cannot see anything aside from pleasure; a hedonistic glass to peer into the future. The primal instincts of humans, are to be pleased and to protect others.

The other sins are Sloth, the sin of lethargy and carelessness, those which instead of overcoming, underachieve and malpractice, those that see themselves as not useful and apathetic towards the effort. Pride, the sin of self and dignity, those which fall by the hand of their own ego centrical nature and the vanity of their image, those which see themselves as the higher-order that cannot be faulted or incorrect. Envy, the sin of jealousy and desire, those which are discontent with what they cannot have and resent the ones that attain, those which are focused on the aspect of what others have. Greed, the sin of need and desire (although it should not be confused with envy), those who want everything and anything, those that fill their vision with earthly materials and crave wealth. And finally, Gluttony, the sin of ravenousness and voraciousness, those which cannot stand the thought of being empty and loath a lack of alimentation, those which are eager for food and necessities.

Omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, anything that is related to their feeble conceptualization and idealization of me is true, yet something feels off like something was looming nigh in the void. Reminds me of a quote, “If you look long enough into the void, it will look back”, certainly, now it makes sense, then, it was just a bothersome pest. That unnerving instinct, that dreadful crawl up the spine, that horrible disaster that you think might be the cause of apocalyptic mayhem, that’s an approximation since cosmically it is inconceivable for your insignificant conciseness.

Fast forward, a few hundred thousand years, that’s when everything changed, and it all started with Pride. This concept gifted itself as being the best amongst all, spreading the idea that it was the first creation, making humans become rulers above themselves. Monarchy is the after-effect of this sin and control is its faithful companion. Being dignified was the sole purpose of the conquering. Pride became the holder and proud creator of governments and organizations, also of vanity.

Follow suit was Envy. Very understandably, it wanted what it could not have, domain over humanity. This was the push needed to create something for itself, something new, that should have no relation to what Pride provided to the world. Desiring the unattainable was what Envy gravitated towards. So, to spite and fester Pride, it conjured the act of imagery, copying, and pettiness.

Lust, on the other hand, had a different set of plans. Entirely separate from the constant fight that will break out from the detestable twins. Centered on fulfilling humanity's desire for endless bliss. It who feasts on pleasure conceived sex, reproduction, gratification, and satisfaction.

As well as Lust, Wrath partook in a solitary path of domination, that by the looks of it, was very simple and efficient. This sin had no plan of overthrowing its conceptual siblings, for it knew that it was going to conquer regardless of any opposition. It who is fuelled by hatred only needed one design, war.

As for Greed, it knew that the elder siblings were on a higher tier and could not compete but was not willing to succumb to obscurity. Feeling that need and drive to obtain, it devised theft, corruption, and burglary. No doubt the inventions were petty and underhanded, but taking was all it could do, and it only took that which exists.

Gluttony was the second to last with any drive towards dominating the living creatures of the ball of dirt. For the most part, the concept indulged in consumption, nothing more, nothing less. Although it did produce hunger and famine to make those pitiful beings suffer a little.

No doubt, Sloth cared not what its siblings were up to, much less attempt on dominating, for it felt, quote “tiering”. Accidentally, it created something with a lack of drive and effort. Judging from this, I did not need to worry about what this one would do; therefore, one less to pay attention t...is what I thought would be the best course of action, but I was blindsided.

Individually, all of them will struggle for the rest of eternity trying to see who can achieve the most power. Slowly but surely, the one with the least incentive began communicating with the others and amassing some sort of coup d’état. At the time I was unaware since Sloth was the least of my problems and looking back, it should have been my number one priority. It all began from the bottom up, Gluttony, Greed, Envy, Lust, Wrath, and lastly Pride, joining forces to overthrow me, their creator. It was at this point that Sloth’s plan commenced the domino effect and everything fell into place. Separately, it was impossible, but together nothing can stop them.

Once they convened on a place known now as Eden, they merged and became one whole being, self-nominating themselves as God of creation and all. With all that power it was enough to lock me away for as long as they wanted. God took what I made and tinkered with it mercilessly, toying with the lives of the residents of Earth. I wouldn’t have minded giving them a sandbox to play with, but locking me up, using what I made, and wreaking havoc, as well as pinning me as the evil one and them as the hero, made me furious to no end. My disdain for my creation grows more every century that goes by. God is my worst creation.

And that is my story. Shorter than the bible, that’s for sure, but you may take it as you will: either me as a lying, worthless being, or benevolence trying to save humanity from a group of children without a moral compass. Regardless, I still have another eternity locked up in this hell until I amass my own power to get out.
