Love

Isn't a Transaction

By Chaotic MinniePublished 10 months ago 1 min read

They say, "Don't trust people,"

But would you like it if no one trusted you,

Even when you know you're genuine?

They say, "I don't love anymore—people disappoint me,"

But would you like it if no one loved you,

Even when you're a bundle of joy?

Life may strike me with countless disappointments,

But I will never stop trusting and loving.

Call me a hopeless romantic,

But a few bad experiences won’t drain the love in me.

I am full of it—I will pour it out,

As long as my heart beats.

Love is not a transaction;

It is a gift freely given.

And if someone cannot receive it,

It’s not your failure.

Not everyone can handle love—

It takes someone special, like you

I'm still so afraid to trust or love someone. Loved your poem!
