It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime. Marie had always dreamed of visiting Paris and finally, after years of saving and planning, she had made it. She had booked a small hotel in the heart of the city and had planned out her itinerary to see all of the major sights.

On her first day in Paris, Marie set out to explore the city. She visited the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and Notre Dame Cathedral. She walked along the Seine River and strolled through the charming streets of Montmartre. The day turned into night, Marie realized that she was lost.

She had taken a wrong turn somewhere and now she had no idea where she was. The streets were dark and deserted, and the only sound was the distant hum of traffic. Marie started to panic. She had heard stories about how dangerous Paris could be at night, now she was completely alone and lost.

Marie tried to retrace her steps, but everything looked the same. She wandered through the city, hoping to find someone who could help her. But the streets were empty, and Marie felt like she was the only person left in Paris.

As the night wore on, Marie grew more and more exhausted. She had been walking for hours, and her feet were sore and blistered.

Finally, just as Marie was about to give up hope, she saw a light in the distance. It was a small café, and it was still open. Marie ran towards it. Inside, she found a friendly waiter who spoke English. She explained her situation, and the waiter offered to call her hotel for her.

Within minutes, Marie's hotel had sent a car to pick her up. As she sat in the back of the car, Marie felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. She had been lost in Paris, but she had found her way back. The next morning, Marie woke up feeling both relieved and excited. She made her way down to the hotel's breakfast room and sat down at a table.

As she sipped her coffee and nibbled on a croissant, she heard a familiar voice behind her. She turned around to see the waiter from the café the night before. He smiled warmly and greeted her.

"Bonjour, mademoiselle! I'm so glad to see you safe and sound this morning. Are you feeling better?"

Marie smiled back at him. "Yes, thank you so much for your help last night. I don't know what I would have done without you."

The waiter shrugged modestly. "It was nothing. We always look out for our guests in Paris. Speaking of which, have you made any plans for today?"

Marie shook her head. "No, not yet. I'm still figuring out my itinerary."

The waiter grinned. "Well, then let me make a suggestion. Why don't you join me on a walking tour of the city? I can show you some of the hidden gems that most tourists never see."

Marie's heart skipped a beat. She had always loved the idea of exploring Paris with a local, and the waiter seemed friendly and knowledgeable. But she hesitated.

"I don't want to be a bother," she said. "And I don't want to take up too much of your time."

The waiter waved his hand dismissively. "Nonsense! It would be my pleasure. Besides, I could use the exercise."

Marie grinned back at him. "Okay, you've convinced me. Let's do it!"
