Listening to the words of the woodcutter.. the lion went bad!

Lion

By shabana begamPublished about a year ago 2 min read

Once upon a time, deep in a forest, there lived a mighty lion, known to be wise and just. Though he was the king of the jungle, he ruled with kindness, ensuring peace and balance among all the animals. His reputation spread far and wide, and even the fiercest beasts respected him.

One day, a poor woodcutter wandered into the forest to gather wood. As he chopped trees, he came across the lion resting near a stream. The woodcutter, who had always been envious of the lion’s power and authority, saw an opportunity to manipulate him for his own gain.

"Great Lion," the woodcutter began, bowing low. "You are indeed the king of this jungle, but have you ever noticed how the other animals whisper behind your back? They do not respect you as they should. They think you are too kind, too gentle for a ruler. A king must be feared, not loved."

The lion, usually cautious, listened closely to the woodcutter's words. Doubt began to creep into his mind. Could it be true that his kindness was seen as weakness?

The woodcutter continued, "You deserve to be feared, for fear brings control. Show them your strength, your power. Then they will bow before you without question."

The lion, influenced by the woodcutter's sly words, decided to change his ways. No longer would he be the kind, gentle ruler. He would rule with an iron paw. From that day, the lion became harsh and cruel, roaring loudly to instill fear in the hearts of all the animals. He hunted more ruthlessly than ever before and punished any creature that dared cross his path.

The jungle was no longer a peaceful place. Fear spread among the animals, and they began to avoid the lion, running away whenever they heard his approach. The lion, once beloved and respected, was now feared and hated. But he couldn’t see the harm he had caused, blinded by the woodcutter’s deceitful advice.

One day, the wise owl approached the lion and said, "Mighty King, you have changed. You once ruled with wisdom and compassion, and the animals loved you. Now, they fear you. Is this truly what you wanted?"

The lion, surprised, asked, "But isn’t fear the key to ruling? Isn’t that what keeps them in line?"

The owl replied, "Fear only breeds resentment and rebellion. Respect and loyalty are earned through kindness and understanding, not through cruelty. The woodcutter’s words have poisoned your mind, and you have forgotten the true strength of a king."

Realizing his mistake, the lion felt deep regret. He sought out the woodcutter, only to discover that the man had vanished, leaving the forest in chaos. The lion returned to the animals, apologizing for his behavior. It took time, but eventually, the lion regained their trust by returning to his old ways of kindness and wisdom.

And from that day forward, the lion remembered the lesson he had learned: not all advice is worth following, and true strength lies in compassion, not cruelty.

Moral of the story: Be cautious of the advice you listen to, for not all who speak have your best interests at heart. True leadership is earned through respect and understanding, not fear and cruelty.
