"Most people find me intimidating you know." Bethany said.

"I can see that, but whatever they find intimidating, I just find endearing." Lilith said. Bethany never understood how she could feel that way. Usually, people ignore her; however, there is something different about Lilith. Bethany never told her how she found her to be mysterious.

With each conversation, Bethany felt the bond growing; however, she never told her. It's funny how life is like this. We all start as strangers but not her. It's like she has known her all her life. It's so easy to talk to her. "Bethany!" she shouts as Bethany is lost in thought. Bethany feels her face turn warm as Bethany notices Lilith is staring at her in disbelief. "Have you heard a word I said?" she asks.

"No...I was so lost in thought I didn't realize you were still talking to me." Bethany replies as Lilith scowls at her. Bethany's face becomes hotter as her face becomes as red as a tomato. "You know.." Lilith begins to say through a grin. "I love it when you blush. You're so beautiful." she finishes as Bethany turns a brighter shade red.

Lilith continued to stare at her. "You deserve someone who values you." she mumbles. Bethany glances up from her homework. "What?" she asks. "Nothing." Lilith says with a sigh. Bethany was so oblivious that she never noticed how Lilith looked at her. Likewise, she never noticed the affection behind each time Lilith would gently brush her hair from her eyes. Bethany was always so naive to things like this.

Lilith was always so patient and considerate of Bethany's feelings; however, Lilith was getting anxious. She wanted Bethany to know what she was feeling. At the thought of telling her, Lilith's nose scrunches up, and Bethany giggles. "What?!" asked Lilith. Bethany giggles again. "Nothing." she replies as she continues to grin.

"Ugh! You are so difficult." Lilith replies. Bethany's face softens. "Lilith...I need to tell you something." Bethany says sheepishly. "If it wasn't for you, I would be so lost. I am so glad you came into my life.", Bethany says confidently. However, Lilith wasn't sure what this meant. Did this mean that she felt the same way and loved her more than a friend, or was it more of a friend's situation?

Lilith glances up, "Bethany...I just want to tell you something. I'd do anything for you and I've been thinking about you a lot lately. Whatever guy wins your heart is so lucky to have you.". Lilith hoped this would sink in and show Bethany how she felt; however, Bethany sits there dumbfounded. "What?!" Lilith asks, hurt by the silence. "You know what I have to go.". Finally, Lilith stormed off, leaving Bethany alone in the grass to ponder what she had done wrong.

"Wow that was rough to watch." Matt says as he approaches. "What do you mean?" Bethany questioned, confused. "Can't you see that she loves you? Only a fool would miss that." Matt replies. "No she doesnt!" Bethany snaps in utter disbelief. However, deep down, Bethany knew but didn't know how to react to it. "Really?! You don't realize this?! And I repeat, "I want to tell you something. I'd do anything for you, and I've been thinking about you a lot lately. Whatever guy wins your heart is so lucky to have you."," Matt says in his most jealous girlie voice he can muster up.

"Stop it!" Bethany growls. "You're wrong." However, Bethany knows that Matt is right, and she doesn't understand why Lilith cant tell her how she feels instead of beating around the bush.

This is part of a series that I will continue when I am not continuing Frevanth and Athlayna or The Kidnapping of Scarlet James.

My work aims to provoke reflection, ask uncomfortable questions, and occasionally offer a path forward — but never too easily. When I'm not writing, I'm probably reading three books at once or arguing with myself about which one to finish.
