Liberty Falls

I wanted to submit this for the foggy waters challenge, but I didn't account for time difference. I still wanted to post it anyways. Please give your honest opinion.

Johnathan: Why do we have to go to your mother's again this year?

Marie: Are you serious? Why do we have to spend time with the woman who birth, fed, clothed, and raised me? I don't know. I guess us country folk are weird that way.

Johnathan: Dont get me wrong babe, I love your mother for all those reasons; however....

Marie: "However what?", interrupted marie.

Johnathan: "However I would have preferred she let us book her a flight to us", continued Jonathan.

Marie: She doesn't fly.

Johnathan: Marie, I would've personally drove 3,000 miles there and back if it meant I could spend one holiday without your uncle going on about the legend of Liberty Falls.

Marie: You're so dramatic!

Johnathan: "Me? My in-laws won't leave their podunk town because they believe they're all that stands between humanity and an ancient witch their ancestors trapped centuries ago. This same witch a bunch of old people are to keep at bay is supposedly wailing so fiercely she's the cause a great reverse waterfall and I'm the dramatic one. Yeah! Ok!", said Johnathan sarcastically.

Marie: "Ha! Ha! The falls isn't a result of her wailing. It's because the water from the mountain is being angled around her magic shield."

Johnathan: "Oh now she has a force field? This story gets more outlandish ever year. If she can magically withstand tons of water coming from a 1000 feet why hide from a bunch of senior citizens?", says Johnathan unable to control his laughter.

Marie: "She's not hiding more like kept dormant by a spell cast by every good witch and warlock in town to combat her dark magic the only way they could."

Johnathan: So no problem right? What's the big deal about "Sleep and Brittle"?

Marie: It's just that. She's sleeping and waiting.

Johnathan: For what?

Marie: The only reason she was stopped is because she was alone. Her family would not accept her use of the dark arts. Why do you think in most movies witches have a covent. Together we're stronger. If her bloodline were to return to Liberty Falls so would her power.

Johnathan: "Sounds like a campfire story to keep kids from drowning in the river, but whatever you love your mom and I love you. That's all that matters. Wake me when we land.", finished Johnathan.

Captain: An energetically emphatic voice comes over the intercom, "This is your captain speaking! We are now landing in sunny Boulder, Montana." exclaimed the captain.

Johnathan: "Sunny my butt! This is the only place on earth where you can feel the humidity year round." recanted Johnathan aloud

Stranger 1: "Let's not make us sell our house before we move in now friend.", said someone from behind two green duffle bags.

Stranger 2: "No, by all means please convince us to leave. Well, my husband is the only one who needs convincing."

Marie: Don't pay John any mind, he's just a city guy. I grew up here and I loved it. I'm Marie Bellman by the way.

Stranger 2: "This is my husband David and I'm Lee Ann Cassidy Miller. Or I guess just Lee Ann Miller. I dropped the Cassidy when we got married." Replied Lee Ann.

Marie: "Cassidy? That sounds so familiar." said Marie with a puzzled look on her face.

Lee Ann: "You may be thinking of a local folklore about my great aunt "The Boulder Witch" Christiana Cassidy." Said Lee Ann with an annoyed look on her face.

Marie: "Well it was nice to meet you."

said Marie as she pulled Johnathan away in a hast.

They met Marie's uncle Terrence and cousin Taylor, who where to give them a ride from the terminal to her mother's house. Terrence apologizes for the weather and explains how it's never as gloomy most summers. Johnathan makes a snarky remark about California's weather being wonderful around this time. This sets Terrence on a rage fueled rant where he strongly suggests Marie gets back to her roots. As they approach their destination Johnathan looked at Marie with an "only because I love you" face. Then instead of pulling into the drive way Terrence cuts through the muddy yard and opens his door as to let the mud splatter onto Marie. He then yells to his son, "show the city folk how it's done!". Taylor stretches his entire torso out the window and flaps like a bird. In the midst of the excitement Marie's youngest sister, Ella(9), runs out with a headless chicken laughing as it mindlessly struggles in her grasp. Terrence brings the car to a stop and sends a string of profanities into the house expressing his distain for the fact they started the ritual without him. Marie and Taylor follow after him into the house as Johnathan cleans mud from his glasses. Ella dangles the chicken by the wing as she asks John will he run with his head cut off. Mortified Johnathan calls for Marie. She does not return. Ella suggests he just heads in. As he walks through the doorway he spots an elderly woman with her arm slashed open. He freezes then yells for Marie. He hears a faint thumbing sound. He sprints towards it. In a panic he trips over the body of Marie's mother bleeding out in the hall. As he looks up from the floor he sees Terrence standing over Taylor with a knife. Terrence slits his own throat and the whites return to his eyes. Johnathan springs from the floor looking for Marie as a flash flood of water crushes the house.
