Le Fleau

Hi there, my name is Gwen, I am wanting to share my story with you all. Some of you may find my story strange or disturbing and unbelievable. But I can assure you everything that I am about to tell you is the truth from start to finish. I have been sailing the ocean on this ship for what seems like an eternity. Honestly I can not tell you how long I have been on here. There is something else, I came on this ship with 3 other friends and I have not seen a single one of them in a really long time. I mean where in the world is everyone? I know I did not come on this ship alone, now that is what I am alone. I just don't understand where everyone could have gone. We are in the middle of the ocean. It is not like the 3 of them could have went to the store or gone to the bar. Maybe I should start from the beginning.

The day we set sail was like any other day. It was warm outside and the sun was shinning and there was not a cloud in the sky. The day was full of excitement for me. You see my friend Blaque had recently came into a very large inheritance. He put some of that money to good use and bought this ship named Le Fleau, by the previous owner. I told him that he should change that name but he said he thought the name sounded awesome. He said he could not think of a better name for the ship himself. Blaque could not wait to set out for his first sail. It is going to be the party of the century he told me. So he invited myself and our two other friends, Bijann and Keres. I had never sailed before. I could not wait to be out in the ocean feel the breeze, and talk to the dolphins I was sure I would see.

Blaque had told all of us to meet him at the ship at 2:00 pm sharp on Friday and we would set sail shortly after. I was the first to arrive. I was met by Blaque who was dressed in a pirate costume. Blaque was never one to take life seriously and always had a flair for the dramatic. He was a lot of fun to be around. Always laughing and happy, he was the life of every party he went to. We dated for three years while we were in high school. After graduation we went to different colleges and grew apart from each other. We have stayed good friends through the years. In fact I guess you could call him my best friend. Ahoy! Blaque shouted to me, this is your captain speaking. Are you ready for the adventure of your lifetime Gwyn? That is what he asked me, I told him that I supposed trying to hide my excitement. Then get ready to set sail, he said. We are off to places unknown and things you have never seen before. And it is all because of me your friend Blaque. You are very fortunate to know a person such as myself. I just wanted to mention that. I know I told him, if it weren't for you I would have never experienced anything good in life. You remind me all the time, I told him sounding almost irritated.

I turned around and notice that Bijann was coming our way and was looking handsome as ever. Bijann was one of the most handsome guys at our high school. If it was not for the fact I was in a relationship with Blaque I would have went for him. Besides that he was a football hero and very popular with the girls in school. After a while I lost count of how many girls he had actually dated. He hasn't changed much, still very much a ladies man. Never wanting to really settle down with one person. Still as handsome as ever. He is my secret crush, if I thought he took love seriously he would be mine. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. Ahoy! Blaque shouted to Bijann are you ready to sail away?, he asked. Dude what are you doing in a pirate costume?, Bijann asked him. I have to play the part, Blaque replied. After all we are going to be sailing on the open water, he said. Blaque asked Bijann to help with some stuff on the ship and the two of them went aboard leaving me to wait for Keres.

An hour later and Keres was just barely showing up. Leave it to her to never be on time. Some day I am sure she will be late for her own funeral. Me and Keres are friends and have been for a while. But she is and has always been self absorbed. She is very pretty and has a great body and she knows it. I mean she flaunts it everywhere she goes, but I don't hate her because of it . If I looked that good, I would show off . She has long blond hair and blue eyes plus legs that don't stop. If I where a man I would want her. Blaque cheated on me with her while we dated in high school. But that was high school and we are grown now. There isn't any need to be jealous over that or angry over that today. We have all moved on and are good friends now. I will tell you, I still think she is a slut. Showing up in a string bikini, that doesn't even try to cover her up. But who am I to judge, I decided to let Keres be Keres like I always do. You always have to make an entrance everywhere you go. God forbid should you be on time, I told her. Oh Gwyn, Keres said, the party never starts until I get here anyway. Besides I had to make sure I had everything taken care of before I left. I know you guys did not mind waiting on little ole me, she laughed. The entire trip would just be a bore if I did not come along. Where are the guys, she asked. They are already on the ship, I told her. Well lets join them she said, and with that she grabbed my hand and started pulling me behind her towards the ship.

We set sail about 4 that afternoon. It started out great we were on the ocean. The smell of the ocean air was fantastic and the breeze just brushed threw your hair and I loved every minute of it. I took some time to watch the dolphins play in the sea. They seemed to want to show themselves to me. We had dinner later that evening and Blaque and Bijann where drinking beer and throwing darts. Keres and I where gossiping and drinking beer,, pretending to be interested in each others lives. At least I was pretending anyway. Day had turned into night we were all hanging out with each other. When the sun went down things started getting weird. The ship had a bar below deck that Blaque had stalked well before leaving. We were all enjoying the evening and drinking plenty. When all of a sudden we heard something banging on the wall. The sound was like 3 knocks and then it would stop and then something would make 3 knocks again. Keres asked,What in the world is that knocking? Blaque asked Keres, are you expecting company? I think someone is here for you. Suddenly a picture that was hanging on the wall fell of hitting the floor shattering.

Why did the picture fall off the wall by itself ?, Keres asked. Who said it fell of by itself Blaque replied . Well Blaque none of us knocked it of. Which is why I asked Why did the picture fall of the wall by itself?, Keres yelled at Blaque. Do not yell at me Keres, Blaque replied, you are not the queen of the sea on this boat, Blaque snapped back at her. At that point I heard a growling sound. I could of sworn there was tiger or bear right there with us on the boat. It was loud and almost hurt my ears. Blaque laughed ,Are you hearing things Gwyn? I thought you took meds for that. Shut up! Bijann snapped at Blaque, I am hearing the growling just like she is. So then all of a sudden there was a terrible smell in the air. Honestly it was the worst thing I have ever smelled. And then the room went dark and the ship started to shake. I fell over because of the shaking. What is happening, Bijann yelled. I was on the fall rolled into a ball I was sure we would sink.

All of a sudden everything stopped and returned to normal. I dusted myself off and got off the floor. Blaque asked, Is everyone alright? I am good Bijann replied. Where is Keres?, I asked. She was right by you Blaque shouted. Well obviously she is not right by me now, I snapped back angerly. We are going to all have to split up and look for her, Blaque ordered. I am not wanting to be wondering around on this ship alone after what just happened, I cried out. Don't be a baby, Blaque snapped ,Keres is missing and we have to find her. Hey cool it Blaque! Bijann snapped. Gwyn can go searching for Keres with me. You can go look on your own if you want. Fine, Blaque replied. You guys take off together, I am headed to look for her alone. With that Bijann and I left the bar to go search for Keres.

We searched the ship over and over and found no sign of Keres. We had to circle that ship at least 100 times. What is happening?, I asked. Where can Keres be? Do you think she fell of the ship ?, I asked Bijann. She was in the bar with us. There is no way she fell of, Bijann replied. But she is not here anymore. We have been every where on this ship and it is like she has completely disappeared. I am scared Bijann, I said as I started to cry. Bijann wrapped his strong arms around me. Look he said, everything is gonna be fine. She has gotta be here somewhere, we will find her. You know Keres she is likely watching all of this and laughing at us right now. We should wait for her right here on the deck, he said. She will bump into us eventually. I agreed. Bijann and I stayed on deck for what seemed like forever waiting for Keres, and talking. The moon was so bright and beautiful and it's light glistened on the ocean. It was almost romantic. You know something Bijann I said. I had a secret crush on you when we where in school. Oh now come on Gwyn, you where totally into Blaque. It is a shame you didn't let your secret be known. If I thought you would ever be serious about any girl I might have, I told him. We almost kissed but then we heard Blaque coming behind us. Have you guys seen her, he asked. Bijann replied no we have not. We have been staying here waiting in case she comes out on deck. Ok look I think we should all go back down to the bar and wait for her there. If she comes looking for us that is the last place we all where, Blaque said. And so we all left the deck and went back down to the bar.

We stayed in the bar for hours, and besides the fact there had been no sign of Keres everything seemed to go back to normal. We laughed and talked about old times and about what each of us wanted to do with our lives. And then 3:00 am came. I looked in the mirror on the door of the bar and saw a reflection of a man. And then we all heard heavy foot steps. As if someone wearing heavy work boots was coming behind us. Blaque someone else is in the boat with us !, I screamed out in a panic. No way Blaque said, we are the only ones here. But I just saw him, I saw his reflection in the mirror, I said with a weak voice. The boat then started shaking again. The lights went out and we could hear that banging and we could smell that same terrible smell. I held on to the door for dear life. As the boat rocked back and forth like we had hit heavy waves.

Suddenly the rocking stopped. The lights came back on and it was just like nothing happened. Except for one thing, I could not find Bijann. Are you guys ok?, asked Blaque. I can not find Bijann I cried out. Where is he?, I asked. Why do you think I would know ? asked Blaque. He is not here, he could not have just vanished. Now 2 people have vanished from this room. What is going on with this boat you have bought? I asked hysterically. Pull your self together, Blaque snapped. I am sure your boyfriend is on this boat somewhere. I mean where else could he have gone. He is not my boyfriend!, I snapped back at Blaque. Whatever Gwyn, Blaque said, we are going to have to split up and look for Bijann and Keres. If we don't find them we will meet back here in 2 hours. Fine, I snapped sounds like a plan. I left the bar so I could search for my friends.

I have never been more scared in my life than I was at that moment. I didn't know what was happening. I thought I heard footsteps behind me all the time. And you know something I saw shadows of people, that could not have been Blaque all over the boat. I searched for Bijann and Keres every where. They where no where to be found. What could have happened to them? By the time I went to go meet Blaque in the bar I was completely terrified. Blaque came rushing into the bar like he was running from something. Did you find them I asked. No I have not, Blaque said. Where could they be? What is going on Blaque? , I yelled. How am I suppose to know, Blaque snapped. This is your boat, I snapped back. And this is your fault, you bought us here in the middle of the ocean on this boat, I reminded him. Hey he said, nobody forced you to come. You just wanted to hang out with your boyfriend, Blaque snapped. Stop calling him my boyfriend!, I snapped back at him. I know you always have had the hots for him, Blaque said with a smile. We have not forgotten who cheated on me with Keres, I yelled at him.

Blaque stood there not saying anything for a few seconds. And then he said, We can't turn on each other. Even after everything that happened we are still friends. You are right, I told him. Okay then, he said, we have got to stick together and figure this out. He wrapped his arms around me to hug me . And that is when it started happening again. We smelled the horrible smell, the boat started shaking and the lights went out. The boat shook horribly. I heard this awful growling sound, then all of a sudden it stopped. The lights came back on and I could not find Blaque. He was gone. I looked every where but I could not find any of my friends I was alone. I have been alone ever since.

I told you before I don't know how long I have been here. I didn't have grey hair when I first stepped on this boat, now I do. It is as if I am cursed to spend the rest of my life on this boat alone drifting at sea. I try to call on the radio for help every day but nobody hears me. I wonder at times if anyone even sees me. What would you do if you where me? Just imagine being trapped on this boat for God knows how long. Not being able to find anyone to help. Not being able to find the friends you came on this boat with. I am so scared all the time. I don't understand what has happened. I am going to try to call for help on the radio again. Hello, can anyone hear me, HELLO!!!

Late breaking news 10/30/2021 , Coast Guards where puzzled when they noticed a ship sailing by itself near the town of Bar Harbor, Maine. The ship was completely abandoned except for the belongings of the people that where aboard the ship. The where a bouts of the people that used to be aboard the ship are unknown. We will keep you posted as we get more information.
