Knock, Knock, Do not Let The Wolf King In

2025, Revised a story for a Challenge, " A Knock At The Door"

By Alice GretaPublished 3 months ago 4 min read

Two Falls. After her Aunt died, she got a knock on her door.

Autumn hardly got anyone knocking on her door. She was very cautious in opening the door. Her pet owl hooted three times to

warn her to beware. It was a windy and frigid day outside.

"Hello, is anybody home?" Shouted the Stranger while knocking hard on the door.

She was standing frozen on the other side of the door, unsure of what to do.

"It's cold out here. Would you please let me in ?!" Shouted the man.

The owl hooted three times again. Autumn did not lock the door. The Stranger tried the doorknob, and the door opened up with a little push.

They were both surprised to see each other, but the strange man recovered first.

"There you are, why did you not answer me?" He asked, staring at the beautiful lady in front of him. She had golden-brown skin and auburn, curly hair. She looked like an Autumn goddess.

"Sorry, did I give you permission to come into my cottage?" Autumn said in a shaky voice.

Autumn Hazel's green eyes turned a shade of green amber when she was upset.

"No, but I have been knocking for a long time and have no answer. I took the liberty of trying the door." He shouted at her and noticed she seemed scared of him.

He used it to his advantage.

"Do you have any food? I am very hungry." He stated boldly.

"I am Caezar, by the way. What is yours?" he asked.

"Yes, I have food. I don't have to feed you. My auntie will be back soon." She told him, trying to scare him.

Ceazar knew she was lying. He had been checking on the cottage over the past few months.

"I am a hungry woman, go get me something to eat. "He commanded.

"My name is Autumn; I don't have to get you anything." She told him in a shaky voice.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to tell you. I am asking because I am exhausted. Would you please help a weary traveler?" He said softly to her.

Which took Autumn off guard. Her compassionate emotion overrides all caution.

"If I make you something to eat, will you leave?" She asked him.

He grunted an answer back.

Autumn went to the kitchen of the cottage and prepared a meal for him. She made a rabbit stew.

"This is it?" He asked when she set the table for him to eat.

"I never had company before." She responds unapologetic

He finished the stew without asking her if she needed to eat.

"Are you done? I must ask you to leave." She told him.

"It's getting dark and very cold outside. Can I spend the night? I will hunt for some food for you tomorrow as a payment for my stay here." He told her.

"I only have one room in this cottage. Where will you sleep? "She asked him.

"I can sleep on the floor or on this old sofa." He told her, while pointing to the sofa in the living room, which is located in the front of the cottage area.

Autumn was not happy with this unwanted guest.

She did not know how to get rid of him.

********

That next Fall, Autumn was ready to give birth. She was having difficulties. Caesar ended up cutting her open to take their child out. Caesar left her there bleeding to death. Caesar wrapped their child in a blanket and took the baby to his wolf tribe. The tribe was a few miles away from the cottage.

Caesar had planned to impregnate Autumn to fulfill the wolf tribe's prophecy.

A wolf Queen will be born on a cold fall night to remove the wolf curse of the tribe. The child must be born of a wolf and a witch.

Autumn was able to put a blanket over her open womb, but she had already lost a lot of blood. She was thinking that she should have poisoned Caesar after he had raped her, but she could not do it.

Autumn was coming in and out of sleep, and each time she was able to get closer to the cellar. It was hard for her to get down the stairs.

Autumn disappeared down the cellar's secret passage to the cave, never to be seen again.

********

Two years later, the wolf tribe's little princess turned two. She was named Orange Hair. What a name for a girl child. The Wolf tribe was only made up of men until Orange Hair was born.

It was noon time on Orange Hair's birthday when a red dragon came and stole her away from the wolf tribe.

Why would a dragon take the little girl?

******

Two years ago, Autumn entered the secret door to the cave that led to the Temple of the Three Witches from her cellar passageway. The three witches cast a spell to turn Autumn into the Golden Blood Dragon to seek revenge and curse the Wolf Tribe. They knew Autumn's daughter was the chosen one to keep the legacy of the Golden Dragon Witches Coven.
