Theres a calmness to kayaking, the way the sun feels on your skin, its hot but it’s a good heat, the kind that warms your soul and makes you feel like you are burning off all the negative energy from the days before. You can taste the salt on your lips, smell it in the slight breeze of the air. The paddle going through the water is an antidote for what your soul needs to heal. It is taking back all the stress you deal with every day and letting you surrender to nature. You can be yourself, alone, no one to answer to, no one to impress. No constant worrying about if you are doing everything right you can just breath, stroke, glide over the water and know it is not judging you. It did not notice if your stroke was off, if it could have been harder, better, stronger, it does not care, it still propelled you forward. The sound of the waves, the breeze brushing through the mangroves, the blue herons and pelicans that is the music to your soul and it calms you. There is an inner peace that washes over your whole body, just as the waves wash over the shore. The waves crashing into the shore are changing the erosion of the land with every smash into the sand and bringing new shells to the surface while taking others back out to sea. The same happens to your soul every time you go out on your kayak, whatever body of water you are on takes a part of your old self with it and emerges with new pieces for you to put forward.
You can paddle as hard as you want and the water will not care, it will not act back in anger, it will continue, clueless to your existence. You are just a small vessel is a vast complex system that is giving you a small glimpse of its glory and immense capabilities. You can take it all in and your mind is just at peace it does not think about anything for once it is calm and you can experience that serenity within. It brings a clarity and euphoria that can only be experienced when you are by yourself with nature and in the arms of mother earth. Time has no meaning, life goals seem to suddenly change, your soul becomes lighter, there is nothing hovering over you, you can look at the sky and finally feel free. Sometimes mother nature is in control, and you get steered of course in a current or veered by a wave, but you have a bond and go on the new path she has provided for you.
When the sun hits the water exactly right you can see so far down in the ocean and notice life existing all around you, and that is allowing you to get a small peek at its beauty. Out on the water, you can just exist, and that brings harmony to your life.
Even though you aren’t thinking about anything, you can solve some of your biggest problems in life or come up with solutions to challenges you are facing or decide to take another road life. It is a clarity that being on the water offers your mind and soul. You can finally resolve inner turmoil because nothing else is causing chaos in your mind. You can focus on something else and that brings inner change that you do not even realize is happening in that moment, but after your spiritual cleansing on the water in your kayak you know you have found the secret to surviving this modern world.
