In the year 2018 things would change in my life. I would go to work and be the only one wearing a coat and hat. There was no known reason to the cause of the fever that would not break and the issues with my breast. Finally, I was convinced to go see a doctor about the issue. I did eventually see my doctor. There was something going on in my body and I did not know exactly what it was. After my exam I was told that it was in infection in my breast. So, I took his word. However, the pain did not go away. My doctor decided that the best remedy would be to cut the infection out. That was one of the most painful experiences that I have ever endured. Weeks went by and the problem did not get better but grew worst. I eventually decided to go to the ER. When I got to the ER there were test and I had to have another surgery. I had to be hospitalized because the place were, I was cut had become infected. Not only that but it was a possibility that it could be cancer. After about four days in the hospital two nursed walk in my room with the weirdest looks on their faces. They had the results from my surgery and test. It was positive I had breast cancer. I then had to see another nurse to discuss what my options were. So now I am in this room with my granddaughter and I must tell my mom and siblings the news. The only reason that I cried was because they all cried. But I knew that this was not a death sentence. I knew that I would be healed. Months or about a year before the diagnose I spent hours studying about stories of others being healed. I also knew there was something wrong with me. I had been prepared me for the next years. Before I left the hospital, my mentor and sister met me to pray for me. I felt my faith increase! The saw through my family, spiritual family and co workers that I had the support and love that I needed. So now I have to see a surgeon. She was so kind and informative. She set up my procedure for chemo and to see an oncologist. The process started and went quickly. I was in chemo within a couple of weeks. I had to have a myectomy because I was cut on, chemo and radiation. There was nothing that I could depend on like my sisters.I took my worship music I went through the hospital with the knowledge that I was never alone.I had a song for every session. I met a few people that helped me to get a better understanding of the process. There were times when I couldn’t eat or drink anything. I lost my hair and forty pounds. However, I never stopped going to work. I needed to get out of the house. My Principal would try to send me home. My coworkers played a major role in how I processed everything. To see their smiling faces helped me. Through all of this I still had joy. I appreciated all my friends, the staff and my family for their support. In the mist of it all even my grandchildren knew that it would be well! They were used to me being outside running and playing with them. My grandson would draw pictures of me as a superwoman. I was so encouraged by him and his sister Maddy. After a one everything started to come back to normal. My hair is back, my weight is back, and I got more strength. This is the reason for the title. I had joy through my journey!
