Firstly, Thank you for the opportunity to present this drama series to you. I pride myself in creating meaningful work that not only creates awareness but work that is catalyst to change. And I believe this is urgent and necessary work to building a more conscious “woke" South Africa .

0.1 Who is the story for?

It is vital to note our target audience and analysis what we need to know about them so that they can engage with the drama series effectively. The target audience would be in touch with what’s happening in the world and use. Mediums like social media (Twitter etc) to keep a pulse on what is happening in the world. The individual also may be familiar with or has been negatively impacted by unemployment or is unsettled with the socio-economical climate of South Africa. The series primary target market are 25 - 35 year olds in South African demographic. Individuals situated in urban & townships, where bantu languages are prevalent (the drivingMedium of communications. More specifically lower middle class to middle class. I would say the individual we are trying to identify with has no Specific religion, though does follow specific belief structures.

We are targeting the followers, participants & students of #FEESMUSTFALL (2015-2016) Individuals that have a distinctive voice in.Paving a way forward for Post Apartheid South Africa.

SYNOPSIS

Mantso Mongalo, a desperate journalist, works her way up, by exposing criminals & a secret society, who threaten her life but insists on resorting to extreme tactics on covering each gripping story.

LOGLINE

"The truth comes at a deadly cost"

Exposing hidden truths that are withheld by the media, which alter narratives to misguide the South African population.

The Gist Of The Story

From the bustling township of Orlando in Soweto, Mantso Mongalo, an amateur journalist desperate for work, muscles into the world of Johannesburgs’s crime journalism. She is troubled by her mother’s unsolved murder, four years ago and it has sparked a fire in her to search for truth & justice.

After being rejected by a big news out-let in the City, Mantso takes matters into her own hands, when she steals a police officer’s radio at a crime scene and wires it to her equipment to monitor chase down wrecks and homicides in which she risks her life to capture each story.

Through her growing anonymous social media page, her exclusive and unfiltered stories navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness which endanger her life as she exposes prominent figures in society.

The plot-thickens, when she is dared to dress like a lady on a night out, only to use the false identity to lure in a controversial politician in at secret society party, and bugs his phone to further her quest to reveal truths. She is then hunted down by a hired hit man who is linked to her mother’s murder but the men are puzzled by the two identities she created. Inyani uses brutal honesty to hold up a mirror to the issues plaguing society.

Writer's Statment of Intent

To defeat evil, good people have to do bad things. Who we become is to a large extend out of our control. It is impossible to get what you want, no matter how much you sacrifice. The decision to act is more powerful than to be good or evil. That is what our hero does in search of the truth about society.
