Into the Dark

Darkness is in the eye of the beholder

By Brendan ByrnePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

The inhumane face in the mirror glared back, covered in blood. "I won't let you hurt anyone else," I challenged, surveying the carnage.

The reflection's malevolent grin taunted me: "You're weak; you need to rest." Then -- a diabolic force swept over me.

I slithered into the darkness, into the unknown, like a caged animal trapped in my own psyche.

It was cathartic, in a way. At least now I knew who or what I was. I could see every sadistic thing he did, every evil thought he carried, yet I had no control.

Though horribly afraid, I was also intrigued.
