'I Am Here For You'
Loosely Inspired And Submitted To The Nourishment Challenge

After a long night featuring teeming rainstorms, Caitlyn strutted away from the job she was called upon to perform. Yesterday, around noon, a dinging text message triggered stimulating enthusiasm through her veins.
“I got the part,” the fashionable image sporting a sparkling smile exclaimed before turning on the GQ style weatherman predicting a foul system invasion.
“So, what is wrong with the wet tee shirt tease?” Caitlyn took a positive attitude and ventured towards dreamland, only interrupted when the alarm clock did its requested duties.
That was hours ago, and commitment completed, Caitlyn strolled down the street seeing her reflection inside the water puddles, “do I look good tonight!”
Peering up, a neon sign promoted, “Hasta Verde” while a neighboring green lantern flickered on and off. Feeling hungry she proceeded inside and once through the entry. reality revealed, auditorium seating with a counter neighboring a stage.
Under the spotlight Kiki Wilson fixed her chef’s hat, “welcome to Hasta Verde,” the culinary talent greeted, “come take a seat down front.”
Making her way down the ramp Caitlyn found a stool like seat, “Here is complementary, grape juice to get you started.”
“Thank you,” Caitlyn whispered a response.
“I am Kiki Wilson the proprietor of Hasta Verde, and my Green Garden,” she announced.
“Why are there cameras all over the place?”
“You are lucky my dear,” Kiki started explaining, “I am ready to tape my latest segment, my famous salad recipe.”
“Isn’t a salad basically lettuce that gets dressed with something that makes it taste more than grass?”
“No, not my salad, no, no, no,” Kiki corrected, “may I introduce you to wait, she looked up at the small go signal, five four three two, one,”
“Welcome everybody to Hasta Verde Irish Pub’ live feed and today I am going to present my well-choreographed, seasoned salad recipe starring, in no particular order, ‘3 ½ cups bulgar wheat, 1/3 cup red onion, chopped, 3 mini cucumbers, ½ cup fresh Italian flat-leaf parsley, chopped, 2 cups chick peas, drained, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper and finally ½ cup feta, crumbled, and we have more for when you serve the dish. And when we come back, I will show you we put all this together to make one healthy salad. And cut.”
Coming back to being human Kiki returned to her guest interview, “and what is your name?”
“Caitlyn,” the struggling actress answered, using a napkin and patting her drenched ensemble, “I just came from an all-night made for television movie shoot, “Picket””
“Caitlyn, that name has been coming here a lot recently, and who do you play?”
“My sheet said, ‘line walker’”
“Oh, I thought with that damp outfit you were late night bar contestant number three, don’t change or anything, you never know who you might bumped into at this hour,”
“Is that all they think about?” Caitlyn questioned.
“Well, you got to start somewhere,” Kiki responded, “I once served grape juice to a character named ‘Sam’ and five, four three two one. And we are back.”
Caitlyn took a sip and continued to listen, “cook the bulgur wheat, according to the package directions, then cool and fluff the bulgur wheat, pour the red onions into a bowl of cold water, let the onion sit in the water for ten minutes, this will help reduce its natural bite, make sure you drain the onions, toss the wheat, red onion, cucumber, mint, pistachios, chickpeas, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper and feta cheese, finally top each serving with more feta cheese and serve.”
Watching Kiki with a close eye Caitlyn noticed her head over to the prepared prop oven and pulled out the finished product.
“Here,” Kiki mentioned to Caitlyn, “and we are out.”
“But I did not order this,” the customer clarified.
“That is exactly what my daughter, Emmy from my first marriage with the limo driver actor, he said, he was, after she met her husband at their wedding, she left him at the altar, I asked the mail order groom what happened, he said, they were on a break and he went home with his Grammy, happy and content.”
“Honey sorry that is the only thing the cook created today,” Kiki honestly replied, “it’s good for you and you will not gain any pounds.”
“It is worth me gold,” a small figure endorsed the television presentation.
“Who is he?”
“My agent,” Kiki proudly boasted, “doesn’t have his wake-up glow yet.”
“When will my pie come? With healthy potatoes,”
“If you want pie, go across the street and bother the British.”
Enjoying the salad, the morning show concocted, Caitlyn soon paid the bill and left. Outside the sun shined allowing the cured diseased dreamer to earn colorful rainbow arcing over the perfect setting viewing rights.
“Do you want more gold than walking your union picket line movie?” A voice behind her asked and Caitlyn turned around, “no, let’s just be friends.”
