Hark me, mortal - reveal thyself to me.

Show thyself to the creature who roams these halls, cradled between sheets of gossamer and shadow; a tale made flesh by thy darkest dreams and deepest fears.

My howls span through the gloam to awaken thee to the fates that have unraveled thy thread - a song to mourn thy doom, the passage of thy soul from yonder plane.

Yet thou run from my laments, my humble offer of omen to thy door. Thou run and scream and cry - a beggar before the woman of the fae.

Hast my messages fallen on deaf ears? Doth thou forswear thy place among the arras of fate?

Thou canst cower before thy path, spawn of man, no matter how far thou may go. My howls of omen must surely follow you to the ends of the earth - as hath been decreed by death.

Author's Note:

Yeah, I cannot get myself to do a whole 1,000 word Lipogram. I have a lot of hair on my head, but with the amount of hair pulling I was doing during this drafting process...I'm gonna fold! xD

I fell so hard for this idea of a Banshee foretelling a person's death from their POV, so I'm forgoing the rules of Vocal's Challenge and doing my own version of the Lipogram challenge with fewer words. c: But if you do decide to go all the way, know that I am cheering you on!!

With love,

Such a creepy and ominous piece! Well done! I haven’t begun a lipogram attempt yet, maybe delaying the frustration

The tone of this gave me chills, great work. The challenge is definitely not easy—I’m glad I got my entry in and dusted and never have to give it a go again

Getting to at least 1000 words without the letter “i” is NOT EASY. But this is fabulous! Beautiful language!
