How to 'Go Down a Rabbit Hole'
A guide to saying "fun fact" at coven gatherings
How-to 'Go Down a Rabbit Hole'
Ask yourself: are you putting off anything you could be doing right now? - Maybe a little more productive? Any cottage task, such as washing leftover potion from the cauldron, or finally getting around to dusting the vacant cobwebs? If you’re reading this, one could assume you’re not ready to burst your procrastination bubble. No one is here to stop you, nay, you'll only find encouragement, unless you’re mortally wounded- don't ignore that - find your nearest healer. First rule of this guideline.
Rules...yeah, I know, you’ve got that whole morally grey energy about you, but there are a couple of nonnegotiables. That's rule two.
The last rule is that a 'Rabbit Hole' should never be used for bringing people back from the dead, nor the taking of anothers' free will. If you have to ask this about your spell, drop whatever dark magic immediately.
Now that the disclaimers have been read and accepted, we can move on. As a refresher or first timer, a 'Rabbit Hole', described by the High Priestess Lilith of the First Coven
It is a metaphor for something that transports someone into another realm, time, space, or dimension, usually involving astral projection. In a Grimoire, a rabbit hole frequently refers to an extremely bewitching and time-consuming spell.
In this case, the instructions are on the latter.
Presumably, Step 1 has already been completed; on the chance it hasn't, choose your spell. If it's a training exercise assigned by an elder, or for a coven induction, condolences and blessed be. All the same, the best reason is pure fate, enticing enough to want more.
Thoughts will be triggered from any number of places. The simple explanation is that scent, taste, touch, sight, and hearing can all lead to the who, where, what, when, and why.
In one scenario, while trading in the village, an unfamiliar witch walks by wafting the scented oil your deceased mother wore. She never had a green thumb, not being an earth sign, so she bartered with others for it. You forgot the name, so you politely ask the lady, "What are the ingredients?" Once home, you immediately pull out your herb book. Already anxious to grind it with your mortar and pestle. Plenty can grab a witch or wizard’s attention daily. Activities witnessed outdoors that inspire a new hobby. Today could be the day you’re ready for broom flying. Another tarot set - that you only thought was one deck - to explore. There are endless spells due to how much we're exposed to.
For instance, crystal balls had their breakthrough during the Death Plague. It was a way to connect in an otherwise lonely time. Jesters made skits to uplift spirits. Witches and wizards shared and suggested in their different ways. A reintroduction of Merlin from the Wizard Order and Baba Yaga to the emerging witches. It helped create interest in things they didn't have before.
Knowing what ushers Step 2 is the search. It's the driving force behind how, where, why, and when. References are how we get these answers. Written and spoken; both ways of obtaining what we seek. Tarot, scribes, runes, bone throwing, and grimoires, providing correct spelling, diction, and wisdom, are great sources. Additionally, information comes immediately in the New Age.
Mediumship is the gateway to obtaining all mysteries. We can access nearly every question just by asking with intent, and for those who choose to call the dead through table tipping or a seance. With a simple chant, we can call the four corners and commune with whatever we’d like. It's delivered far too quickly- and the more a spell is documented, the more it is extra to sort through. So the next question for yourself is if you're prepared to commit minutes, potentially millennia's to this curiosity.
Step 3 and the last is to become a master. Answers typically lead to additional questions. Witches are encouraged to learn. It's why they prepare for spell casting, and the reason a high priestess or priest rehearses incantations. You've likely heard, "wicked witches only dance with the devil while the good ones conjure the music". The phrase can steer into a practice, coined by Arthur, known as the ‘200 Year Prophecy’. He simplified a vision the seer Cassandra had about communing with Mother.
He stated that 200 years of practice guarantees you will lead a coven or order. Arthur was specifically referring to Willow the Wise. Moreover, it was just his interpretation and is a busted myth. That information was found and retained in under an hour. Mindful of the length of these directions, the search was dropped, thus concluding these instructions.
If anything, you can now say, "fun fact", at the circle when a sister mentions debunked lore. Face it, you're charmed, you need to know more- there's always a hex for what you seek. So mote it be.
