Her eyes were the color of the sky on a warm summer day. Her smile was the one thing that kept his anger at bay. She was something special, maybe even unreal. She had a heart more powerful than a thousand strikes of lightening. She made sure he felt peace and harmony at all times. She was his treasure. She found him during his darkest days and brought him to the light. It was hard. It was a struggle. Through it all, she stood by his side and made him acknowledge she was there for the long run. His addiction had him trapped in a whirlpool of misery and pain. He had lost everything, everyone. She stood by his side when everyone begged her to leave him alone. She endured pain, cried more than she ever had before him. Wanting to give up, she kept pushing and marched on. Aside from laying with him while he was going through his withdrawals, she talked him through it, holding him when he was begging to die. Trying to make it better. There were times she wanted to leave, but her love for him was stronger than whatever other emotions were going through her. She knew she could help him. She knew she could heal him. She knew she could take the devil's temptations away. Scare them away, maybe?
She knew what she had to do to help him get clean, it certainly was not ideal but she had to do whatever it took to save the love of her life from his own demons. As she abandons him in the cellar of her parents' cabin, she cries as he screams for her to come back. The withdrawals are killing him. No, not figuratively. Literally, killing him. He's more sick now than he's ever been before. He can feel his body shutting down. His tears fall to the floor like raindrops on a window sill, as he begs her to let him out. Just give him one hit so he can feel better. He promises he'll quit. The addiction has taken over him and she can't stand to watch. She leaves the cellar as his cry echoes. What was she thinking? You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. Even so, she can not leave him. He is the love of her life and she will stop at nothing to save him from himself. She turns around, walks into the cellar, looks him in his eyes, I'm not leaving you Sebastian. Not now, not ever. I made a promise and that promise I intend on keeping. You have to get through this. For you. For me. Our future. I love you more than you'll ever know and by me standing right here, right now, all odds against us, I am promising you I will never leave.
Tears form in his eyes. The nausea takes over and because he has nothing on his stomach to throw up, he throws up acid and blood. Begging. Begging for her to just kill him. Begging for her to take the pain away. Begging her for mercy. One hand holding on to his, the other combing through his hair as he lies on her lap crying. They're both crying. Just a couple of more days, my love. I promise we will get through this. Her voice cracks as she feels his body start to shake.
After hours of crying and begging, Sebastian falls into a deep slumber. Checking his pulse, she sighs in relief. Nothing would hurt her worse than losing him this way. She has an idea. Kissing him on the forehead she begins to get up, leaving him alone. Walking soundlessly down the hall and up the stairs, she makes him a home remedy to help with the withdrawals. Assuming it will work, her Sebastian will be better in no time.
ALIZA! Aliza please baby. You have to let me out. I'm so sick. I just need enough to get me through the withdrawals and I promise that's the end of it. Baby, please help me. His voice is filled with anger. Hurt. She knows she can not help him in that way so she makes a deal with him. Drink this, she says slowly, drink this and all of it, if you do not feel better after it, we will try it your way. Instantly, he takes the large coffee cup from Aliza's hand. Knowing this wouldn't work and he would get what he wanted, had him determined to finish it all. His lips touched the cup, he barely got one sip before he started throwing up. Finish it. Aliza demands.
He takes the next drink. Ready to give up. This.. This... Whatever it is, is not helping him. Feels hopeless, confused, disgusted, he spits it out again, Only this time he spits it out with a smile. I don't know what that was, or how you knew to make it. Witchcraft probably, huh? Baby. I feel so much- before he can finish he falls to the floor. Aliza takes Sebastian by his hand while reciting something in Latin. Is she actually a witch? Sitting straight up, Sebastian lets out an ear wrenching scream before crashing into the floor once more.
It's been three days, Aliza isn't sure if she had done the spell right. He should be awake by now. What could she have done wrong?
After seven days of being asleep, Sebastian wakes up to nothing but a cold and empty cellar. Clear of all withdrawal symptoms and feeling better than he ever has before. Looking to his right, he sees Aliza crying in the corner. She's crying for him. She doesn't notice he's awake. Carefully trying to stand, he gains power in his legs and runs to her, picking her up. Baby, I'm okay. I finally feel alive again! He exclaims. Not knowing exactly what she had done, only knowing that she quite literally, saved his life. Promising her that he would never pick up another drug, needle, or pipe, again. She saved him and for that, he will spend his life showing her he was worth saving.
It's been six years now. A long and hard six years. They wouldn't have made it without each other. There were more tears and arguments than anyone could imagine. He left. She left. They always found their way back to each other. She couldn't give up like that. He knew he would never find anyone that could love him the way she does. I love you. Not only does she say it in her sweet angelic voice, she shows him everyday just how much she loves him. Together, they decide to plant a pear tree under the burning sun and beautiful blue sky. Symbolizing their comfort with each other; knowing they are each other's best friends. Expressing the happiness they have found in one another. Representing his overcoming of addiction and their new life beginning. This pear tree is a token of their love. For, without each other, they may not have escaped the evil in this world. This pear tree they will plant together, will grow tall and healthy, it will live long just as their love for each other. When the day comes that they must say goodbye to the world, they will be buried beneath this unbelievably symbolic master piece.
