Victoria slid her finger along the gilded edges of the family music box. The smooth cold metal helped to soothe her warring emotions.

Dare she?

Placing two fingers on either side, she held her breath and lifted the dark wooden lid.

The melody started playing, echoing around her late Uncle's study. The floating dust danced along in the moonlight.

'I knew I'd find you here.'

She turned, slamming the lid down in her haste.

'I just wanted to hear it play. One last time.'

'You know we have no choice.'

'I know.'
