Heavenly Seas - Chapter Six

Heath has an announcement that will shake the haunted ship.

“Theo, are you alright?” Heath shuddered at the sight of Theo’s pale skin. He couldn’t be any more whiter if he tried.

The slow tempo in his voice irked Heath too. “Of course I am, why?”

Heath titled his head. “Are you sure…”

“Yes!”

“Are you really okay?”

“Yes, yes, yes.”

Theo was anything but convinced. He crossed his arms for a moment, then went to pat his shoulder. “It’s just you look so pale.”

Theo grinned. “I just had a little bit of fun.”

He had been with Rose again. Calvin was dead. Heath refused to believe if it was suicide. His body had yet to be recovered. “Honestly Theo,” Heath said. “You are starting to look like a vampire.”

Theo cackled with laughter. “Well what’s wrong with that?”

“Nothing,” Heath replied. “It’s just dangerous… our brother died and you seem different.”

“No…” Theo shook his head before running to Elodie. “I am perfectly alright. I’m good. So chill.”

Heath noticed the patterns on Theo’s knuckles we’re different. His eyes had a red taint to them. His first instinct was to sniff his nose. “Have you been on the weed again?”

“Heath?” Elodie shrieked, slumping on the coach. “Don’t accuse him of that!”

“It’s true!” Heath said. What did he have to gain hiding Theo’s weed habit. He had done a lot worse than smoking some odd grass.

Theo pulled the most magnificent smile that radiated innocence. It only made Heath more suspicious of him. Had something happened! “Of course not, Mummy. I don’t take any drugs at all. I’m a good boy I am.”

If Calvin was there, he would have told him to shut up. Heath sighed. It’s a shame Calvin wasn’t there. “I need to tell you something.”

Elodie sat herself up and crossed her legs. Concealing her frail and fragile state. “So what is it you want to tell us?”

Heath’s lips trembled. In a room of gold and luxury, he had never felt so empty. What happened to Calvin? What overpowered him for him to topple like that? There’s no way it was suicide. “ I was hoping Calvin would be here…”

“Well,” Elodie spat. “He won’t be coming back!”

“But one thing I need to ask, is Gong-Gi my father?”

Elodie huffed and crossed her arms. “Do you think I would have kept you if you were?”

“Are you saying you considered aborting me?” Heath gasped. “Honestly, it’s no wonder Calvin got so angry at you all the time.”

“Get on with it!” Elodie shrieked. Twitching more by the second. “What’s the big announcement

“I’m getting married!” Heath spat out.

Elodie and Theo shrieked at the same time. “What! To who? And when?”

Heath smiled. “Rebecca Mcvitties.”

“Oh her?” Theo raised his head with his mouth wide open. “I’m sure Calvin’s had her in the stable a few times…”

Elodie threw her pillow or Theo. “Shut up! Oh my God Heath…” She burst into tears: happy tears. The alcoholic stench overwhelmed Heath when his mother hugged him.

Heath smiled. “She’s pregnant too.”

“What? I’m going to be grandmother again? And this time… I know for sure it’s definitely a Figgs.”

“Oh I’m so happy for you,” Theo said, with the warmth returning in his voice.

This was the moment Heath had always wanted. Some recognition was lovely to have for once. But Calvin wouldn’t be there, would there be any point.
