Heaven in Hell
microfiction piece
As an atheist, it was strange to walk through hell. Even more bizarre, was that everyone was enjoying themselves. Drinking cocktails by the lava rivers, climbing up the craggy mountains in groups, even dancing in decimated gardens.
“This is not what I expected,” I admitted to my underworld guide.
He laughed. “We only torture the villainous. For others, be it gay, divorced, a nonbeliever, or anyone innocent yet condemned by God- this is the place where they can relax for eternity. Heaven’s just far too strict.” I smiled up at the satyr.
I was going to like it here.
