He shared with me an ocelot when finally, I touched ground. Two complex strays, matured with age, revealed a truth profound.

We sat beside the harbour, my son, wild cat, and me. We contemplated heaven as the sun set on the sea.

My heart? It seemed to overflow as I observed the pair. Their furtive glance. Their sweet romance. Exotic and quite rare.

I’d prayed for years my son would find someone to love, to last. I hoped his solo sailing ship had finally found its mast.

He shared with me this ocelot, a woman wild and free. A woman willing to be claimed, should he get on one knee.

My birthday party over, my seventy candles charred, I hugged him close and truth be told, I hugged her extra hard.

When I at last rose in the sky, began to fly away, the rising sun lit up a flow of glowing, glittering spray.
