Your wish is my wordplay. (A microstory.)
Specs of pepper on sand; they blossomed into mirages of men riding camels.
I'd waited.
A gem-within-a-gem, I was a dollop of gold in an emerald oasis.
(But not always.)
"Your third wish is my command," he'd said.
"I wish to be powerful, like you, without taking orders from peasants, so I shall have hunger for life."
He listened, closely. "I'll grant every word."
Now, upon finding me, they rubbed.
I emerged afore widened eyes and devoured their souls.
(I wish I'd listened; closely as he):
"Commands you won’t take," he'd assured, "...✨granted✨... your hunger for life: insatiable."
(Virulent.) Bloodthirsty.

If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.

That's a nice twist for a cute little horror story, Gina. It's like what happened to Jafar in Aladin, but instead of being forced to be subservient, the main character has an insatiable appetite. Sadly, being powerful like him made the MC still reliable upon the lamp. The MC is not a genie, but a Jinn. I've got shivers sent through my spine based on stories that my Muslim friend from work told me about Jinns.
