Giulia's Locket

Good morning Mom. Good morning Giulia. How did you sleep? I slept well, Mom. I won’t be eating breakfast, got to arrive early to take Senior pictures today. Oh yes, wow! Time flies!

Yes, and so do laws. There is a new curfew law effective as of today. It states that, “ All students must be inside by 4pm.” Guess Dad can’t take us on ice cream runs anymore. I guess not, sweetheart. Wait before you go, I have a gift for you. What is it ,Mom? It’s a heart shaped locket. Wow, its a gold heart locket.Yes, it was given to me for you. What do you mean, for me? Oh, nothing I meant its been past down from my mother. I want you to wear it for your Senior photos. Thank you, Mom. I love it. Also, Giulia, don’t forget about the new curfew. We don’t need you being brought home by the Agents. You are aware they patrol by 3:59pm, on the dot? Well, I don’t get why they are even setting curfews, Mom. Listen, Giulia, here within the Capsule, we are taught to make the most of our environment and before the Storm hit and caused the Earth to revert back to, The Pangaea. Why are you you Students out at this time? There is a reason for curfew. Um..we were just walking home. No,no, now you walking to the station so that we may notify your parents. Wait, come on. As they were walking behind Agent Donna. Agent Donna turns around suddenly and notices Giulia's Locket. She starts with asking them their names.

Whats your names? I'm Andrea and this is Giulia. Yeah, I know her name. What? How do you know my name? Nice locket. Who gave it to you? Let me guess you are in your last year of academy and your Mom gave it to you? Whoa, that's strange; How did you know that? Well, my position here in The Capsule, wasn't always "Agent Donna".

When the new system was developed, we weren't within a civilized place after the storm. Few survived and I was one of them. I was young and my partner, well he perished. Now, those new regulations that became law and requirements for everyone. The Capsule required all children to be in a sustainable home with 1 Mother and 1 Father and siblings. This is how it had to be. All of the students here around your age ages, Andrea and Giulia, are not with their real parents. Like biological parents, but just replacements. Wait, are you saying you are Giulia's mother? Like biologically? That's crazy. it's why we have curfew. There are things they don't want anyone to learn about. You know Agent Donna this was the story, thanks and I guess we are off the hook. Wait, Andrea, I need to ask her a question. Agent Donna! Wait, Who gave you me or better question, where did my locket come from? Agent Donna, since that was something that caught your attention besides us breaking curfew. I shouldn't have said anything. Wait! Giulia, come on, don't you want answers. At least find out where the heart-locket originated from. Okay, I will ask again. So, Agent Donna care to let me ask that question again before you leave us?

Agent Donna, smiled. Then said, it came from a place called New York. Well, when New York existed. I'm sure it's safe with you.

Later, that night Andrea calls Giulia over the tele-line. Andrea is curious about the locket, but just a little more curious than her friend Giulia. What Andrea and Giulia didn't realize was that all calls were not private at all. the parents listened in during all conversations. Soon enough the conversation was interrupted by Giulia's mother.

Let's have that ice cream! No, thank you. I will head to bed. I had a long day. Yes, I'm sure you did with photos and all. Thank goodness you didn't get stopped by the Agency while walking home today with Andrea. How did you know I was walking with Andrea? Silly you, didn't you just thank Andrea for walking home with you? Oh, I think so. This was the moment Giulia realized that the Agent never issued a noticed to her parents about her breaking curfew.

Soon, enough Giulia starts to realize this life seems perfect and nearly how normal is suppose to be but something is wrong.We can't question the laws, the Agents who are in place to keep us in-line and we cannot question our so-called parents too much. Everything seems so strange. Why is there a curfew? There is definitely something wrong with this picture.

The next day Giulia wakes up. This time she eats breakfast because she has a plan to find out whats really going on here in the Capsule. Wow, Mom thanks for breakfast. It was delicious. No problem, sweetheart.

Later, Giulia sneaks over to the Agents station to see if she could find Agent Donna. Just as she approaches the area, Agent Donna grabs her and tells her that she can get into big trouble for being in the area unauthorized. Then Giulia explains why she is there and wants to know what is going on here. The Agent Donna says, have you noticed that scratch on your heart-shaped locket? Wait, what? Oh no. I never noticed it. Well, maybe your answers lie within that locket. Let me go, I need to get back home now. Sure. Don't come back here.

How was your day Giulia? It was good. Oh no, Giulia, your locket has a scratch. Take it off me go have it polished for you. No, its okay. I don't mind the scratch. Just give it to me. I like it so much I don't want to take it off. It's okay, I will give it back to you. Fine. Then Giulia leaves and takes a walk nearby the house. For some reason Agent Donna was driving by and saw her and snuck up behind her and pulled her to the side and asked her about the locket. Where is it? My mom took to it to get it shined. You shouldn't have did that, all of your answers to your questions are inside that locket. Wait, what! Why didn't you tell me? I thought you opened already. There is a chip inside and it has a lot of data. You need to make sure you get it back.

Good night mom. Mom, where is my locket. Oh, its in my room, Ill give it to you tomorrow. I really want to sleep with it on. Can I have it now? No. Why would you want it if you are going to bed? Is there something you need to tell us?
