Robert is standing in line at the Big Kahuna Burger of Texas waiting to have his order taken. “What can I get ya handsome?” The female cashier asked with a heavy southern accent. “Can I get four number one’s, two with cheese and two without cheese?” Robert asked. “Comin’ right up, sugar” the cashier responded. Robert glanced outside of the store window at his friends in their 18 wheeler work truck with exhaust on his face for the long evening ahead. “Here ya go, honey” the cashier said while bringing Robert his order. “In for a long day?” The cashier asked. “Nope” Robert replied. “I’m out for a long night”.

Robert headed back to his truck in the hot Texas sun. When he got in he handed everyone their orders. “Took long enough”, Quentin started sarcastically. “Eh, give em a break” Fred added. “Yeah, the boy is kinda slow” Kurt joked. At the sound of Kurt’s joke Robert stood up readying himself to lunge at him before Quentin and Fred intervened. “Come on guys” Fred chuckled. “Yeah, we’ve had enough of you two tryna kill each other for the past five hours” Quentin added. Robert calmed down and sat back in the driver’s seat while Kurt walked to the back of the truck. The quartet then buckled themselves in as Robert cranked up the truck and began pulling out of the parking lot as the group made their way to the Mexican border.

7:30p.m.

“Alright fellas we’re almost to the border” Robert began. “Before we make this cargo stop in El Rey we’re gonna stop at this bar called the “Titty Twister” for a couple hours then we’ll head to the El Rey city limits and drop off the shipment”. “Sounds like a plan to me” Quentin agreed. “Now you did say there were girls at this twister spot, right?” Fred asked. “Yes, deviant” Robert chuckled. “I’m just lookin for a good drink to kick back with. Y’all can have the broads” Quentin added. “Then again that might not be certain people’s cup of tea, considering how they act like broads” Kurt remarked. “Oh boy” Quentin said alarmed.

“What’s that supposed mean?” Robert asked while looking in the rear view mirror above him. “Let it go, Bobby” Fred exhausted. “No Fred, if he’s got something to say then let him say it”. “Ok I will” Kurt rebutted. “You’ve been acting like a female ever since last Friday, what’s your problem, Bobby?”. “Maybe nearly getting in trouble because of some drunken idiot who was supposed to be my friend is the issue” Robert answered.

“I said I was sorry, what more do you want?” Kurt asked irately. “Maybe a change in behavior!” Robert asked. Everyone then fell silent at Robert’s response. “Look guys we’re at the border now. Let’s just get this job done and worry about all this later” Fred suggested. The group of four arrived at the border of Mexico where they were met by a crossing guard. “How many with you?” The guard asked while approaching the truck. “Four officer” Robert answered. “We’re making a shipment run for Extec International”. “Ah yes” the guard started. “We’ve been expecting you guys. Go right ahead and have a safe trip”. “Thank you sir” a delighted Robert concluded. The quartet was now in Mexico and was only a few hours away from completing their job.

9:00p.m.

The group pulled into the parking lot of the “Titty Twister” bar. The lot was packed with many truckers and bikers who were rowdy with energy. “So what’s the move, Freddy?” Robert asked. “We’re gonna go in here and relax for a couple hours, get a few drinks” “chat up a few girls?” Quentin added sarcastically. “Yeah that too” Fred continued. “Then we’ll hop back in this big bastard and make our way to El Rey”. “Sounds good to me” Quentin started. “”Eh, me too” Kurt added. “Oh what the heck, guess I’m in too” Robert concluded. The four then climbed out of the truck and made their way inside the bar. The first thing they saw upon entry was nearly two dozen beautiful women dancing seductively for every pair of eyes that watched. The bar was also packed with lots of trucker and biker patrons.

“Yo, we are in paradise” Quentin laughed enthusiastically. “These girls are hypnotic” Robert uttered. “Yeah, there’s something about em’” Fred added as the quartet walked to the bar. As they approached the bar they were met by the barkeeper Razor Charlie. “What can I get you hermanõs?” Charlie asked with a smile. “Four whiskeys straight, Jose” Robert said. “Comin right up” Razor replied with a smile. The four men got their whiskeys and sat at the bar as the crazy night ensued. “This is a pretty rowdy place” Robert exclaimed. “Yeah I like it” Quentin joked. “Looks like we’re in for a chill night” Fred said while taking a drink. “Yep, lookin’ forward to it” Kurt added.

10:00p.m.

As the night progressed the quartet drank very little as patrons continued to come and go from the energetic bar. “We’ll I guess it’s time for us to get a move on” Fred suggested. “Yeah, I guess we can hit the road now” Robert added. As the four rose to their feet to leave Quentin was bumped by a drunken patron. “Watch it bro” Quentin said angrily while shoving the man. “You watch it boy” the drunken patron said angrily while shoving Quentin to the ground. Quentin rose back up and took a swing at the drunken patron as his three friends watched. As Quentin landed a blow on the man’s face, two of his friends walked over and attempted to follow up with hits before being subdued by Fred, Robert and Kurt who held the man and his fellow drunken partner at bay with punches.

One of the bar’s bouncers quickly ran over to break up the altercation. When the big bouncer neared the fighting group he was abruptly stabbed in the gut by one of the drunken patron’s friends. All the other patrons, dancers as well as Robert and his friends stopped in their tracks as the knifed bouncer fell to the ground and started to bleed out. As the tension in the room grew, Robert looked over at the knifed bouncer and noticed that the blood on the knife that went in his gut was green.

“No, that can’t be right” Robert thought. Before he could finish his train of thought he heard a hissing whisper from behind him that sounded like it was calling his name. He turned around and saw one of the beautiful exotic dancers disfigure her face into something that looked demonic. She was a vampire. She leaped over Robert, Fred and Kurt and jumped on top of Quentin. As Quentin put his hands up to try to fend her while screaming in terror she quickly sunk her fangs into his neck and started drinking his blood. “AAAAHHHHH” Quentin screamed in terror as she sucked from his knock. Fred and Robert then tried to intervene but were easily fended off by one hit from the creature’s foot and arm. As Robert and Fred fell over, a chair leg leaning Kurt came from behind and rammed it in the back of the vampire’s heart.

The woman fell over and as Quentin lied in a pool of his own blood. Robert, Fred, and Kurt rushed to his aid as he faded out of consciousness. “Quentin! Quentin!” Fred called out while shaking his unconscious body. Standing in shock and silence among all the other patrons, Robert raised his head to take a look at all the other staff members of the bar starting morphing into vampires. The dancing females were now demonic evil creatures who started attacking the bar’s patrons and so did the bouncers. As the truckers and bikers fought for their lives while being bitten and killed, Robert, Fred and Kurt all rose to their feet and started defending themselves.

One of dancer vampires jumped in Fred’s direction and he quickly picked up a broken wooden chair leg and rammed in the creature’s heart. One of the vampire bouncer’s tackled Kurt to the ground who then threw beer bottles at the monster to hold him at bay. One of the other biker patrons came to Kurt’s aid and rammed a wooden chair in the bouncer’s back, but failed to miss his heart as the creature snapped his neck. Kurt then got to a chair leg that was close to him and stuck it in the heart of the bouncer catching him off guard.

Robert stood in shock at what was happening around him when he suddenly found himself surrounded by two vampire dancers and one bouncer. Nervous with nowhere to go he picked up two wooden chair legs and put them in the form of a cross, causing pain to vampires. While they were distracted in misery he jammed one of the chair legs into each of their hearts and went to find Kurt and Fred. Fred was using a chair leg to stake as many vampires that came close to him while Kurt had taken note of what Robert had done and made a cross out of wooden chair legs to hold them off.

The three men stood back to back while fighting off as many vampires as they could with what they had in hand. Out of the corner of his eye Fred saw an undead Quentin rise to his feet in horror. “Oh no” Kurt uttered. “Quentin” Robert added. The vampire Quentin growled his way over to a readied Fred who quickly picked up a chair leg and rammed it in Quentin’s heart as Quentin caught fire and melted into a puddle. Distracted in grief, Fred was caught off guard by a vampire who rose up and bit his arm. Kurt then grabbed the monster by the shoulders as Robert stabbed him the heart with a stake.

The three men all gave each other a disheartened look realizing that Fred was doomed to become a vampire. “I’m done for, but I’m gonna get you guys outta here” Fred said assertively. All three men picked up stakes and made run for the door with the chaos around them. Most of the patrons were still dead and dying as what remained of the vampires ran towards the surviving trio, as they made it to the door they realized the vampires had locked it. “Y’all get that door open” Fred ordered. “I’ll hold them off”.

Fred began punching, kicking and staking every vampire in close range as Robert and Kurt used their combined body strength to ram the entrance door loose. As the vampires tried to charge Robert and Kurt they were pulled back by a fighting Fred who quickly got his hands on one of the torches that lit up the bar and hit three vampires with it, setting them on fire. The vampires then bumbed into each other, setting one another on fire. As the flamed group of vampires angrily rushed toward Robert and Kurt, Fred used all of his body strength to tackle the group away from the duo who finally managed to bust the door down.

As the door came apart, Robert and Kurt ran out of it into what was now a bright and sunny morning. The vampires and Fred were now all in flames. “GO!” Fred yelled at Robert and Kurt in agony. Robert and Kurt ran further into the sun as fred and the vampires exploded behind them. The remaining vampires briefly ran out into the sun before catching fire and closed the entrance doors shut.

Robert and Kurt fell to the ground in exhaust. “What…the heck just happened?” Kurt panted. “We’re alive!” Robert exclaimed. “Those people were vampires and they killed our friends. How is this even possible Bobby?” Kurt asked in disbelief. “I guess there’s more terror out here then what remains on the surface of broken relationships.” Robert answered. “So what do we do now?” Kurt asked Robert. “Let’s get out of here” Robert concluded. “Let’s finish our job and drive about it. We’ll find a solution in this dawn”. Kurt nodded in agreement. Robert and Kurt hopped back in their truck and drove off into the Mexico dawn with resilience as they made it through a hellish one night stand.
