Before you close your eyes, let me tell you a tale. A story full of magic and wonders as far and wide as you could dream. It starts in the middle of a beautiful forest valley. The valley is home to all sorts of funny creatures beyond your imagination. Creatures like a Flappelump; an elephant like animal with green fur and wings flying around and trumpeting out loud for everyone to hear. You can also find if you mind your step, teeny tiny blue toed Hopperkittens hopping around and hiding under leaves. All these beautiful, strange and magical creatures lived together in harmony. The valley had trees stretching so high up that the leaves tickled the clouds floating over them. These trees were also home to some of the valley’s amazing creatures like the spotted penguin squirrel or better known as a Pengski that made its nest deep in the tree’s branches.
If your journey has led you to a field of dancing daisies it means you’re almost there. Right past the inside-out cave and across the river flowing backwards you might see it; the front door of a big mushroom house. Standing tall with its little round windows and flower patch garden in front, where you’d find a tiny bean named Dippy. Dippy was the smallest of the valley creatures that he knew of and he was loved dearly by everyone. He loved playing with his friends and exploring through the valley, trying to discover as many new things as possible during the day.
Dippy had many hobbies. The favourite among the valley creatures was his love for baking amazing and interesting treats. He puts a little bit of magic in each of his recipes. He adds fairy dust to his flour to make you fly and enchants the milk he uses, though his biggest baking secret is that he replaces regular eggs with Easter eggs. He’s always happy to share his baked good with the creatures of the forest.
Dippy wakes up every morning by the sound of the first Flappelump’s trumpeting sound, bright and early to set his table of treats for his valley friends. He sets out a big invisible ice cream cake and a plate of super strength s’mores. He makes room on the table for fastest fudge and the flying fruit cake. The table is all set and Dippy sat on his mushroom chair and started playing his magical flute, waiting for his friends to come and eat. He gave seven Pengki’s a slice of invisible ice cream cake each and gave out four slices of flying fruit cake to some Flappelumps. Nine blue toed Hopperkittens came around for some super strength s’mores as well.
The afternoon hours rolled by and most of the valley friends have already gotten a treat from Dippy’s table. He’s still playing his beautiful tunes, signaling to the world that the table still hadn’t been cleared. Just then a big thump, a huge bump and heavy thud made him hop up from his mushroom seat. It kept thudding and thudding like a big hammer hitting the ground, making everything around him bounce in place. The sound was enough to make to Penksi’s scatter to the trees, the Hopperkittens crawl under the nearest leaf and the Flappelumps take off in fight. Dippy was a brave bean though. He stood by his table, flute in hand and waiting to see what it is that was trotting his way.
The valley creatures had all disappeared. Hiding from the mysterious giant making its way to Dippy’s mushroom. Thump, bump, thud; the sound was getting closer. Dippy quickly wiped a droplet of sweat tickling down his forehead and clutched his flute tight. He kept his eyes up to the sky waiting to look into the eyes of the supposed giant when suddenly, the thudding stopped. It was quiet. Dippy scanned the sky for any signs of it. Nothing. His head dropped in relief. His gaze fixed to the ground when something caught his eye. A creature he had never seen before. It seemed smaller than a Hopperkitten. The creature was probably the size of Dippy’s pinkie toe.
It looked like a little mouse with a long nose and long tail with a brush at its end. It stood on its back legs and looked at Dippy in anticipation. Moments of silence passed between the two before the little mouse took a teeny step forward. THUMP! He took another step. THUD! And another step BUMP! It was the mouse. Dippy couldn’t help but laugh at himself. They’d all been frightened over nothing. He bent down to look the mouse in its eye. He greeted his new friend and offered him some treats from his table. While Mousy was eating in bliss, Dippy sat back down on his mushroom with his flute ready in hand. He played more tunes inviting his valley friends back, giving out the last of his magical baked goods until the table was cleared.
Later that evening Dippy waved goodbye to his new mousy friend; mousy thudding, thumping and bumping all along the trail as he goes. Dippy packed up his table and put away his flute. He giggled again as he thought of how silly the afternoon had been and how silly he was for being frightened at something smaller than a Hopperkitten. He put away all of his ingredients to make more flying fruit cake, super strength s’mores, fastest fudge and invisible ice cream cake the next morning. It was time for Dippy to go to bed and it’s time for the dreams to settle in. Now don’t be frightened next time you hear a thump, bump and a thud. It might just be little mousy coming for his treat. Don’t turn in bed with worry. The soft tunes of Dippy’s flute will soon put you to sleep. Close your eyes and you’ll be sure to find yourself at Dippy’s table of treats.
The end.
