Follow Me to the Light
A.H. Mittelman

My name is Thane, Nate for short. I was in the woods searching for lost souls.
They lost their lives in a bus crash, and it was my job, as a regent of the souls, to guide them to the light.
The souls were scattered around the woods.
There were thirty six total.
First, I found Tommy.
“Tommy. You’re dead. Come with me into the light,” I said. He followed.
“Where is this light you’re taking me to?” Tommy asked me.
“First, we find your friends. Then the light will open and you will see how it ends,” I said and smiled.
Next we found Jared and Charles wandering through the trees, confused.
“Jared and Charles, you have died. Come with me, I will be your guide,” I said.
“Where are you taking us?” They asked.
“The light, it will save you from spiritual blight,” I said.
Next we found Charlie B.
“Charlie B, we need you to come with us,” I said.
“I know I’m dead. The bus crash messed up my head. I think I snapped my neck, too,” Charlie B said.
Next we found Xavier.
“Where am I?” Xavier asked.
“You died, Xavier. It was because of your bus, so come with us. We’ll show you to the light, alright?”
“Alright,” Xavier said.
Next we found Teddy, Billy and Rowan.
“Come with me, T, B and R. I’ll show you guys a way that’s not to far. I will guide you into the light, you will feel its might,” I said.
“Who are you and what light?” Teddy asked.
“I’m Nate, your guide. You must trust me to be your ride,” I said and put a soothing hand on Teddys shoulder. He relaxed and started to follow me.
Next, I found Roman, Colton and Hudson cowering in the bushes.
“Don’t be afraid, gentleman. You’re dead, nothing can hurt you now. Stand up and take a bow,” I said.
They stood up.
“Who are you?” Roman asked. Colton and Hudson nodded, also wondering who I was.
“I’m Nate, your spirit guide. It’s my job to guide you into the light, alright. So sit tight and follow me, please,” I said.
“Why should we trust you?” Roman asked.
“You were in a bus crash and now dead. You’re lost in the woods, what choice do you have?” I asked.
They nodded and followed me.
I eventually rounded up all thirty six of them.
“We’re heading to the light now,” I said.
“But we can’t be dead,” one of them said as I lead.
“Yet you are, that’s why you’re all here,” I said.
“How much further until the light?” Roman asked.
It’s a little further up,” I said and smiled.
We kept walking until the earth shook and the ground opened up, a flaming light shooting from beneath us.
“Wait, these flames. This is hells light?” Roman screamed.
“You were criminals on the bus to jail. You haven’t been punished yet. What did you expect?” I said and laughed.

Fabulous ♦️♦️♦️
I love the story, great plot, with a wonderful twist. But is the regent's name Thane or Nate?
Wow, that ending was wicked! I did not expect that twist at all—brilliantly executed! 🔥👏
Hahahahhahahahaha I didn't expect it to be a bus full of criminals! Now that was brilliant!
