Final Bombs (For Now)
America takes on Saudi Arabia in nuclear fashion.
Fifteen of the nineteen hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. While Iran was vociferous in the denunciation of America, Saudis thought about the demise of the United States. They got bombed, anyway. The nuclear clouds over Riyadh and Jeddah the message that the hellfire had finally reached the so-called ally of America.
In the blistering heat of the explosions, hundreds of thousands of people experienced the power of the Department of Defense in the United States’ arsenal.
Now, there was no questioning, no equivocation about whether the Saudis could still be friends until they signed a Constitution. That was all true.
