To Hunt and Protect - for the Epic - Superhero challenge

I feel my prey’s tension in the earth under my paws as I chase them down. Their fear mingles with the evil that permeates every cell in their body, making me howl with rage.

The man I’m hunting has done unspeakable things to animals and humans, and tonight his throat will be between my teeth.

Some call me a monster, but the blood I spill is never innocent.

In the three years since I emerged from the wilds, my only instinct has been to hunt and destroy the pestilence that soaks this city. My memories don’t exist beyond that day, and I have no desire to remember them. For me, the hunt is enough.

Half woman, half beast, I’m loathed and feared by both. But that doesn’t stop me from protecting them.

Each night I prowl the darkest streets, my senses leading me to the wicked, the demented, the actual monsters of this world.

The man stumbles and grunts as he hits the dirt. My lips curl back in a grin, revealing my jagged fangs.

“Sta… stay away from me!” Spittle flies from his mouth as he sobs and drags himself away from me.

“Like you stayed away from the woman you nearly beat to death? Did you listen to her pleas to stop?” My words come out in a low growl, barely recognizable as language. But I know the bastard understands me from the way his eyes widen.

“I can sense all the others you’ve harmed. Killed. Tonight, that ends. Tonight, you end.”

He hardly has time to scream before I’m on him. Ripping, tearing.

As his blood soaks the earth, my feral nature stills. It won’t last long as there’s too much evil in this world and I was made to hunt it.

Wow! That was an arresting read! I'll definitely route for Feral. I loved the introspective thought of this line -My memories don’t exist beyond that day, and I have no desire to remember them.- 😮 Now that's commitment!
