Family: Our Anchor in Life's Storms
A young man's journey reveals the enduring strength of family love
Think of a young man, Let’s call him Tom. He had a rather strict mother who was not very forgiving when it came to giving out spankings. Tom’s father never complained about the money he earned, rather once he got a small amount wrong when calculating the sales, tears rolled down his cheeks.
This time it wasn’t the bubble of punishment that melted away all reasonable thinking. Tom felt that his mother’s health was deteriorating and the pain of beating turned into a reassurance – his mother was still powerful enough to scold him.
Time flew and one day the kid that Tom used to be turned into an adult man. This is when he realized that his parents did not care and never expected him to provide them with riches and achievements, as long as he was happy.
They were and had always been his friends in his trips of life. However, when the parents grew old, their satisfaction, on the contrary, appeared to be directly correlated with his company.
Life, they would also notice was not always a deck of blank cards or fifty-two cards arranged in a neat dealer’s package. Tom suffered a lot but in the middle of it all, he had his partner who had become his strength all throughout, like the two pillars that supported their house, his parents.
Thus, the constant support of the wives recalled in Tom’s mind that a happy marriage forms the basis of a happy family.
Tom and the person he loves need to create a family, to be happy within the context of the family that was formed with the addition of children as the children join the parents in building a life.
These little ones gave the completion to their family in one manner, or the other. They were the next step of their love, new seeds that embraced their unions into new life.
‘Family, ‘ Tom came to realize, was the only thing that could hold him together. Without them, he feels sure that he would be engulfed by the sea. He went home every day just to be enveloped by the warmth of their smile, the way they greeted his presence, and the support from their cheers.
They were the reason for waking up in the morning and the hope that kept him going every next day. As in the love, he saw his mirror, a love that he realized when he was completely penniless and lonely, and the only thing he had was love – it was enough.
