Family Issues
His youngest cousin is having problems. And only he can help distract her.
Charity and Mama were at it once again. Fighting each other and practically at each other's throats. So mad that they didn't even notice that she left. Bambi wondered if they ever were going to notice. Probably not anytime soon. Last time they did, it took at least three hours or more.
Ignoring this, Bambi walked down the sidewalk leading to her home. Seeing her eldest cousin after walking for five minutes. Talking to some of his best friends from school. Freezing as she debated her next move. Hoping that he hadn't spotted her just yet. Those hopes were dashed the second Vahn turned his head in her direction. A huge smile came to his face and he said something to his friends. Bambi guessed that he was telling them good-bye. Debating on going back home but, figured he'd already seen her. That would look weird if she did. So she just stood there as Vahn walked up to her. Smiling as he asked,"Hey, Bam-Bam. What's going on?"
"Your Ma and Char fightin' again?",he questioned. Playing with her hair gently as he got closer. It seemed he always knew when that happened. And she thought of asking him about that. But, figured she could do that sometime later. Bambi nodded her head as she stared up at him. Vahn inwardly sighed at this information. When were they ever going to just grow up? Especially their Mom? A few times, Vahn had tried to intervene but he kept getting an earful over it. So, he just kept out of it. Decidedly distracting his younger cousin from their fights. Having his little brother, Conner, help out on occasion. As Bambi and him were pretty much inseparable. Bambi stated,"It's about her music career. Mama thinks she's too young or something."
"And Charity thinks she's being a wet blanket?",Vahn questioned. Bambi nodded her head at this. Vahn just sighed at this information. It wasn't like her Ma was entirely wrong or anything. As he and her were only nineteen. A bit young to be starting that kind of career. Well, as far as Vahn could tell it was. And it's what his Da kept telling him. Quietly, Vahn said,"Well, that sucks. Hopefully they can work something out."
"How about we go grab Con and get some ice cream?",Vahn suggested. Ice cream and Conner usually helped her mood every other time. And this time didn't seem any different. As she immediately agreed to it with a little grin on his face. Both of them headed to his house to get his little brother. Got him from living room and head to the 'Pinkie Pop Ice Cream Parlour'. They both stood in front of the menu to check what they wanted. After a few minutes of looking them over, Vahn said,"Okay. So I'm gonna get a cotton candy cone."
"What're you squirts gettin'?",he asked. A tiny smile on his face as he stared down at them. Both quietly talking to each other about waht they wanted. Acting super serious about the ice cream flavors. Bambi answered,"I wanna get the strawberry cheesecake cone."
"I'd like the mint chocolate chip.",Conner said. The eldest cousin then motioned to the woman behind the counter. Encouraging them to tell her what they wanted. When they did, he put his own order in and payed for all of them. A little while later, they got their treats and headed outside. Going over to a nearby bench that was placed under a tree. While they ate, Vahn asked,"So. What do you guys want to do after this?"
"Can we go for a drive?",Bambi questioned. Something that she really liked when she was little. When she was feeling really upset too. Just like she clearly was today with her family's argument. So Vahn agreed. Figuring the drive could help her talk about what was going on. Conner nudged her gently got get her attention. Then he asked,"Is everything okay, Bam-Bam?"
"Yeah, kind of.",Bambi answered. Not giving any more than that. Looking a little sad as she ate her ice cream cone. Much less enthusiastically than before. Now, that really worried him. Just how bad was the fight between his Aunt and Charity this time? How could they not notice that Bambi was listening to them? Instead of prodding his youngest cousin further, he ate his own cone. As did his younger brother. All of them eating in complete silence. After they finished, they headed to Vahn's car. The younger teens getting in the back seat. Once they were properly buckled in, he pulled out of the driveway. Heading down on a dirt road that they all liked the most. As they drove, Vahn asked,"So, what exactly were your Mom and sister fighting about concerning her music career?"
"Charity thinks I should join her in making another one of her next songs.",Bambi answered. Join her in a song? Everything? Recording, writing, and all that Jazz? That sounds a little much for a nineteen year old. It'd be a lot for a thirteen year old to do. Especially, with everything they were going through moneywise. Vahn stated,"I see. Do you even want to do that?"
"No but, Charity won't listen to me.",Bambi muttered. Of course she didn't. As much as Vahn cared for Charity, she was thick headed. Especially, when she got stuck on something. She didn't let it go until she completely got it done. For anything or anyone. Even if she got herself sick from working so freaking hard. Vahn gave a little sigh and this. He mumbled,"Of course she isn't."
Maybe Vahn could talk some sense into her later. Or at least try to talk some sense into his oldest cousin. Tell her that it isn't something that Bambi wanted to do. That she was too young to do what Charity wanted. And that his youngest cousin wasn't comfortable with it anyway. Mentally making a note to do so before school the next day. For now, he'd just drive them for a few miles. Then drive them back to his and Conner's place. Insist his cousin have dinner at their place. Beg his Da to allow it if he had to.
Anything to keep Bambi from that mess. Even for just a couple of hours.
