Love outlives chaos

Grounded in love

Jessica was living in two worlds. The world in her head become the place of utopia-the world around her apocalyptic. As the reality of existence was at a turning point she remained optimistic in the hope of finding her soul. It had been taken from her, in a just small encounter, it was stolen. She had but just a small heart-shaped locket to replace it.

To the outside world, Jessica lived an average life. However for Jessica it wasn’t her outside world that mattered. For her inside world was gigantic. It was just a few months earlier that she decided to isolate herself from her friends and move to the middle of the desert in South Australia. Here she was able to unfold, finding safety in the secludedness. This secludedness had abruptly changed one morning when it was announced that a toxic substance had been released into the atmosphere causing widespread catastrophe. The isolated desert town was now running rampant with robotic military. As if a horror movie had come to life.

Jessica began noticing that humanity had also become robotic. Devasting laws had been enforced forcing permanent mask to save civilisation from this toxic substance. Jessica was finding more safety within her inner quarters now, wondering how long we would live like this. The mask had begun causing a rift between the people. They were losing their relativity with one another, forgetting who were robots and who were human. Dooms day was upon them, with each new morning becoming hard to bare; how would she find him?

The soul thief was a beautiful hypnotic angelic boy named Gabriel. In one deep encounter, he electrified her with his gaze and completely transformed her sense of being. She was captivated by him. How in a world that was falling to pieces could she have found a part of herself she wondered. She was adamant he would return. This hope kept her going in these desolate times.

His eyes were so big, he saw her.

Saw her in a way she has never been seen before.

But it was in his eyes she could see he found something, had he been searching for her?

How does one become touched without a physical sensation she wondered.

It was in this moment she knew, he stole the deepest part of her. She wanted her soul back, she prayed for another encounter with this curly haired boy so she could retrieve it.

Months had drifted by, not a soul thief in sight. Strong faith in the universe made her certain destiny would bring him back to her. She felt so out of body now, disconnected; her world was slowly dissolving. Jessica wondered if the electricity between them could transform the world? Recent news about the substance revealed that in actual fact the latest outbreak was caused by a manifestation of the lack of love humanity had been cultivating in the atmosphere. As if the gods are screaming for all to connect and to heal. Could this really be it? Jessica was certain the love she felt for this boy would save humanity.

And it had happened, one sunday afternoon as Jessica walked home. This Sunday felt different, the air felt drier, the sun hotter. She had become distracted by the small children playing. She wouldn’t normally stop but as she lowered her gaze to head back to her safe house, she caught a glimpse of him. The electric between the two made her gasp.

As she looked deeper within his eyes, she saw herself.

Her soul was there, waiting for her.

She froze, she had many thoughts of this day happening, many practiced was of being. Is it strange to kiss a stranger she thought? Is it wrong to confess of all her hearts desires? Perhaps, he could already see the truth in her eyes.

She remained frozen, captivated once more by the soul thief. She reached up and touched the heart shaped locket she kept safe around her neck. He smiled and in that smile she could see that he was home.
