Echoes of the Forgotten
The Price of Erasing the Past

For as long as Iris can remember, every town has a "Forgetful," a person who serves as the keeper of all memories the townspeople wish to forget. Painful losses, bitter regrets, dark secrets—these memories are willingly surrendered to the Forgetful in exchange for peace of mind.
But the Forgetful are not volunteers. They are chosen by the townsfolk every 30 years in a solemn ceremony. Once chosen, the individual loses their own identity, their memories overwritten by those of others. The Forgetful lives in isolation, their existence an unspoken necessity, yet a source of quiet unease.
When the current Forgetful in Iris’s town passes away, she is unexpectedly chosen as the new vessel. Struggling to cope with the flood of foreign memories, Iris begins to uncover strange inconsistencies in the recollections—fragments that hint at a darker truth behind the town’s apparent serenity.
As she delves deeper, Iris starts to piece together a conspiracy: The town’s leaders are hiding something terrible, and the Forgetful’s role isn’t just about relieving pain—it’s about erasing inconvenient truths. With her own memories slipping away, Iris must decide whether to confront the town with what she’s learned or let herself be consumed by the flood of others’ memories.
But time is running out, and the weight of centuries of forgotten secrets threatens to break her mind. In the end, will Iris reclaim her own identity, or will she become another forgotten soul in the cycle of silence?
