Easier heist ever...
a microfiction story about a museum heist
The museum security is much more lax than I thought. All it took was a screwdriver and that was me in the vents.
I waited in that dusty vent for 5 hours until it all closed down and the security changed to the night shift. Over the years I learned that bringing a gas mask with you can make or break the plan; you don’t wanna be caught for sneezing in the vents.
My target today is a middle eastern scimitar worth £1.2 million.
“Hallway clear?”
“Clear, you can send it down”. James, my partner, said over the Comms.
Stupidly, the museum made this room sound proof. They had an auditory exhibit here and I guess sound proofing was needed. Unlucky for them, that made my heist so much simpler. I quickly release the vent cover and drop the drone.
James had already looped the camera footage, and I disabled the sensors, so all the drone has to do was lift the cover and retrieve the scimitar.
Easiest heist ever.
“I got the sword. Heading back now”
Just as I’m about to exit the building, I hear steps behind me.
“Long time, Rick”
“Fuck... I knew it was too easy”
