"What about this one?" She looked to the volunteer.

"Him? Oh, you don't want him. He's already been returned before."

"Why's that? What's so bad about him?"

"Last family said that he's too rambunctious. Always causing trouble."

Staring into his eyes, she could hardly believe what the volunteer was saying. "Let me see him."

Opening the cage, he was apprehensive at first, but remained completely still. Upon being placed in her hands, she held him close to her chest.

"Nothing wrong here. Mind if I see the others?" His claws sunk into her sweater.

"Meow."

"Guess I'm stuck with him."
