[Disney Reddit] We’ve Been Told to Stop Acknowledging the Children in the Hallways

I work night security at one of the resorts near Disney World. I won’t say which one, because I’d like to keep my job, but it’s one of the ones you’d recognize — themed, cheerful, always spotless, with music playing even at 2 a.m.
I’ve been here six years. Nothing about the parks or the resorts creeped me out before. You get used to the eerie emptiness after closing, the flickering lights, the animatronic echoes from the distance.
But about three months ago, we got a new rule from management.
“If you see the children in the hallways at night, do not engage. Do not talk to them. Do not approach. Call your supervisor and continue your duties.”
They said it so calmly — like it was routine.
The First Sightings
It started with housekeeping.
They’d report kids running down the long guest corridors around midnight. Sometimes laughing, sometimes silent. Always in groups of two or three.
When staff tried to talk to them — “Hey, sweetie, where are your parents?” — the kids would just run around the corner. And when you followed, they’d be gone. No doors opening, no sound of running feet.
At first, everyone assumed it was actual guests’ kids. Until they realized none of the rooms on those floors were occupied.
The weird part? It wasn’t always the same kids. Sometimes it was a little girl in a Minnie shirt and one shoe. Sometimes two boys in retro-looking clothes. Sometimes one kid just standing at the end of the hallway, facing the wall.
Management’s Response
You’d think management would be concerned. But when reports piled up, we got an all-staff email:
“Effective immediately, do not engage with any unattended minors after hours. Notify security. We are aware of the situation.”
“We are aware of the situation.”
That was it. No explanation.
When security asked for camera footage, we were told the system was “under maintenance.”
The Hallway Incident
A few weeks ago, I was doing rounds on the fifth floor — a quiet wing, mostly closed for renovations. The lights were dimmed, music off.
I heard giggling.
Clear as day.
I turned the corner and saw a kid — maybe seven or eight — crouched by the ice machine. She had dark hair tied in pigtails, wearing one of those old ‘90s Mickey shirts.
I froze.
She looked up at me, smiled, and said:
“You’re not supposed to see us.”
Then she ran. I mean vanished.
No sound, no door opening, nothing. Just gone.
When I reported it, my supervisor sighed, like he’d been waiting for it.
He told me, “Yeah… that happens sometimes. Just log it and move on.”
The New Footage
Last night, one of the maintenance guys showed me something on his phone. He’d saved footage from an old backup drive before they wiped the servers for “updates.”
It showed one of the hallways — timestamped 3:17 a.m.
At least six kids, barefoot, running toward the camera. They pass right under the light, but their shadows don’t match.
And when the last one passes, you can see them all stop for a second, look at something behind the camera, and wave.
One More Thing
There’s one detail they didn’t tell us in the meetings.
According to a few of the older employees — the ones who’ve worked here since the ‘80s — this isn’t new. It started after a fire in one of the resort wings decades ago. The official report says no casualties.
But the old staff insist otherwise.
They say the kids were never found.
And if you’re working the late shift and you hear laughter down the empty hall, whatever you do — don’t look.
