“Did you do it?”

“Did I do what?”

“You know what I’m talking about. Did you do it? Please, I need to know.”

“I was here all day. You know that. Why are we having this conversation? I thought you knew me better than this.”

“I thought I did, too. Charlie, I need to know the truth. What happened?”

“I have no idea. Whatever it was, I had nothing to do with it.”

“How can I trust that you’re honest? Why should I believe what you say?”

“Because I’m your girlfriend, Henry! But fine, if you can’t believe me, then ask your friend. Brad came over in case you forgot. You needed him to watch over me. Call him. See what he has to say!”

“Hello?”

“Brad, I’m sorry to bother you, but Charlie and I are having an argument, and I could really use your help for a second.”

“I really don’t want to get in the middle of things.”

“Brad, please, it’s important.”

“Fine, what do you need?”

“Did you see the news?”

“I heard about what happened to Selena.”

“And?”

“And what, Henry?”

“What do you know?”

“I just know what the news said. Selena fell off the roof.”

“So it’s true? She’s really gone?”

“I guess so. Henry, you were the last one to talk to her. If anything happened to her, you would be the one to know.”

“She was fine when I talked to her. Nothing happened. We were civil. She was happy, then I left.”

“You said you had to talk to her on the roof.”

“What are you getting at, Brad?”

“Henry, you know I love you, but when you get angry, you have episodes. Did you have one?”

“No! No, I didn’t do anything. I wouldn’t hurt Selena.”

“It wouldn’t be the first time you hurt someone. Remember what happened to Charlie the last time you guys fought?”

“What do you mean? I never hurt Charlie. I love her.”

“I know you do, but you looked psychotic. You really wanted her to suffer. You’re both lucky I was there.”

“Why would make me that upset with Charlie that I would want to hurt her?”

“Because you were upset that you chose Charlie. You said you chose the wrong friend, and it was her fault for tricking you.”

“Selena would have been the better choice.”

“Henry, what did you and Selena talk about on the roof?”

“I honestly don’t remember. It couldn’t have been very important. Do you think Charlie did something to her? She’s always been jealous of mine and Selenas relationship.”

“Henry, Charlie was with me the whole time you were gone, talking to Selena. Then you came back, and I left. Charlie was with someone at all times. She didn’t do anything.”

“But there was a time I left Charlie at home alone. I needed to leave and clear my head. I was gone for about an hour. I only came back when I got a phone call from Selena’s mom. The police called her. Charlie could have done something in that amount of time.”

“She could have, but we know Charlie. She would never hurt anyone. Especially not her friend. Talk to her. Really talk to her and figure out what she did in that hour. You’ll feel better if you know the truth.”

“Okay. Bye, Brad. I appreciate it.”

“Yeah, just call me when you figure out what happened.”

“Charlie, where were you an hour ago when I left?”

“I stayed here. Why, what happened, Henry?”

“You really don’t know? Didn’t Selena’s mom call you?”

“Not that I know of. Is Selena okay?”

“Selena fell off the roof. Police are saying it looks like she was pushed.”

“Someone pushed her off the apartment building? Henry, what did you do?”

“What did I do? What did you do? Where were you when I left Charlie?”

“I was here. I couldn’t really go anywhere else.”

“What do you mean you couldn’t go anywhere else?”

“Look at me, Henry. Really look at me. What do you see?”

“Charlie, you’re bleeding! What happened?”

“You said you had to talk to Selena. You were upset because she didn’t want to be with you. I didn’t know you hurt her. I just thought you were angry and left. Henry, you looked murderous. You were so upset with me because you felt it was my fault that you and Selena never worked out. You did this. You did all of this.”

“Why would you say that? Charlie, I love you.”

“I love you, too, but I’m not actually here.”

“What do you mean?”

“Look over by our couch. What do you see?”

“Wait, Charlie, that’s you. How is that you? Charlie? Charlie?”

“Henry?”

“Brad, I think I had an episode. I don’t know what to do.”

“We’ll find you help, but first, what did you do?”

“I’ll tell you everything, but we should call the police.”

“Henry, you hurt her, didn’t you? You were the one who pushed her.”

“I think I killed them both. Selena and Charlie.”
