Different Day, Different Face
Fiction Shorts word of the day: Covet

“Absolute perfection,” Wayne mutters to himself, watching the young man walk down the street, choosing him as his next victim.
At seventy years of age, Wayne admires the young man’s youth, vitality and wrinkle free skin. The perfection that drives Wayne to follow in his victim’s footsteps, stalking his prey.
After a turn into a dark alleyway, a gunshot sounds. A chest wound that is fatal, leaving the deceased’s face unblemished.
Wayne gets to work with a nip and a tuck, carefully extracting the perfection that will become tomorrow’s mask, giving him a resemblance of that which he highly covets.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
