By Susan NnebePublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Hey, lovely readers, I want to talk to you about something really important: your mental health. You know, it’s so easy to allow negative feelings to get into our minds. We allow these negative thoughts and feelings to cluster in our minds. Our thoughts now become so messy, filled with too many thoughts and worries. But do you know we can still clean our minds from these messy thoughts? We can declutter our minds.

Let me walk you through some simple steps to help you clear your head and feel better. If you're feeling that you have loads of messy thoughts affecting your mood and mental health,.

Why Should We Declutter Our Minds in the First Place? Let me tell you why.

It is important to declutter unnecessary thoughts in the mind. Take, for instance, your mind is full of too many negative thoughts. Those thoughts can make you feel stressed and anxious, and some extreme thoughts can even make you feel sad. Thinking about negative thoughts always might make it hard for you to focus on what matters. But when you declutter your mind, your mind will be free and peaceful, and you will be eager to create new things that will benefit your life.

Steps to help you clear your mind.

Step 1: Write It Down

It is better to write what's on your mind down; it is a good way to start decluttering your mind from everything you have on your mind. You can write them in a notebook or open a note on your phone. It is not compulsory that you get all the spelling of words; what is most important is that you declutter everything on your mind on paper. As you write, just let your thoughts flow. Write down your worries, tasks, and anything that’s bothering you. This process helps you get everything out of your head and onto paper.

✅Step 2: Prioritize Your Thoughts

We should all learn how to prioritize our thoughts. The next step to take after you’ve written everything down is to take a moment to look at your list. Select the thoughts that are the most important. Ask yourself, which thoughts are important? Also, ask yourself: Which worries can you do something about, and which ones are out of your control? Get your pen and circle the things that need your attention. This will help you fix your mind on important things and let go of what is not necessary.

✅Step 3: Set Small Goals

What is next? After selecting the things that need your attention, the next thing is to set small goals and take action. For example, if you’re worried about how to settle a big quarrel at work, instead of thinking about the whole problem and how it started, focus on solving the main cause of the problem. When you take small steps in solving a problem, it makes your goals more achievable.

✅Step 4: Practice Mindfulness

It is common that most of us have our minds wander away too quickly.

The practice of mindfulness is a great way to declutter your mind, and it cannot be overemphasized. Mindfulness can help us be present in the moment. It can allow our thoughts and feelings to be organized. You can practice mindfulness through meditation, deep breathing, or simply taking a walk. Mindfulness helps calm your mind and reduces stress.

✅Step 5: Limit Information Overload

Overloading your mind with too much information can fill your mind with either good or bad news. Nowadays we are in the era where bad news flies faster than good news, and almost all the information we see from social media, news, and our phones is scary and frightening. If care is not taken, it can add to our mental clutter. Try to limit the amount of information you consume. If you keep reading about negative things on social media, that can clutter your mind with bad and negative thoughts. It is important to set apart time to check your phone or social media and stick to them. And avoid information from people who make you feel anxious or stressed. Make it a habit to follow pages that inspire you or make you happy.

Take care of your mental health. Don't be afraid to speak out about your struggles. You're not alone. You will get over it.

I hope this helps. Please, if you found it insightful, like or comment; I would like to hear your thoughts and also share with others who need it. 💞
