DEATH IS A MYSTERY😔... BUT IT OFTEN SEND SIGNS BEFORE IT COMES 😔

(Episode 4)

Chidi's throat tightened.

It was him.

The candle.

Flickering.

Without hesitation, Chidi ran to Mama Ada, the village healer. Breathless, he poured out everything, minus the ghost. She listened, frowning deeply.

“This boy is slipping,” she said. “But it’s not illness. It’s pull. The ancestors may be testing himor warning him.”

“Can we do something?” Chidi asked.

“We must act before the next moonrise,” Mama Ada said. “Bring him to the sacred grove tonight. The one who hears the whispers… must lead.”

That evening, as the sun bled orange into the sky, Chidi helped Nnaemeka to his feet.

But as they walked toward the grove, something strange happened.

Nnaemeka suddenly stopped and whispered, “Do you hear that?”

“What?”

“The water… it’s rising.”

And before Chidi could react, Nnaemeka’s eyes rolled back, and he collapsed in the dust.

Chidi hadn’t slept for two nights. Not since Nnaemeka collapsed.

He had been rushed to Mama Ada, his body cold, lips pale, breath shallow. But he wasn’t dead. Not yet. He lay on the healer’s woven mat like someone caught between sleep and goodbye.

Chidi stayed with him, refusing to leave even when Mama Ada said, “If he wakes, it won’t be to this world.”

But that night, something happened.

Chidi dozed off beside him and was pulled into a dream—except it didn’t feel like a dream. The walls of the hut dissolved. The mat became water. And Chidi was no longer lying down.

He was *standing* in a place that looked like a mirror of their village—but grayer, quieter, slower. People moved in the distance, but their feet didn’t touch the ground.

Chidi turned and there he was.

Nnaemeka.

But different.

His skin glowed slightly. His eyes looked wiser—older somehow.

“Nnaemeka!” Chidi shouted.

He smiled, but it was a sad smile.

“You weren’t supposed to come here,” Nnaemeka said.

“I came to get you,” Chidi replied, his voice trembling.

“You can’t. Not yet. This place… it holds those whose time was almost up—but not fully written.”

Chidi stepped closer. “Then come back! Fight!”

“I tried. But the pull was strong, Chidi. The dreams, the drowning… it wasn’t about me alone.”

“What do you mean?”

Nnaemeka’s smile faded. “There are others coming. Others whose flames are flickering.”

He pointed beyond the trees of that strange world.

Chidi turned and saw faces dozens, maybe hundreds—young, old, men, women. All fading in and out, as if waiting.

“They need to be warned,” Nnaemeka said. “Death isn’t always sudden. Sometimes, it taps. Whispers. Leaves crumbs.”

Chidi’s eyes filled. “Then what do I do?”

Nnaemeka stepped forward, touched his chest lightly, and whispered:

“Wake up.”

Chidi gasped and sat up in Mama Ada’s hut.

The night was thick with crickets. Nnaemeka still lay beside him.

Unmoving.

Mama Ada looked at Chidi. “What did you see?”

Chidi stared at his friend, hand still cold, but something had changed.

“I have to warn them,” Chidi said.

“Warn who?”

He looked out into the dark village.

“Everyone.”
