The water was still, ominously reflecting the bright moon. Often we spent our nights drifting amongst the waves quietly fishing, there were more exotic bites under the moonlight. We would wait for sunrise, with a drink and a laugh.
The water was never still during these ventures. Not like this, silence paving the road to panic. Orange eyes pierced through the chilling air, watching us above the unknown depths.
Harmonizing with our souls, its solemn song swam from its lips. Hypnotic and sweet, its tail flicked above the black waters and the creature was gone as quickly as it came.
