There's a rumour in the only high school on the small island of Morhamell that stops most students from bullying, teasing, or hurting other students.
The rumour is that Clarice will send a warning letter to you in your mailbox 3 days before she comes for you, because she knows where everyone on the island lives. If you don’t abide, she will come and kill you, and torture you forever, even when you’re dead. It is the debt one will be forced to pay for life. Teachers warn. Parents warn. Cousins warn. Friends warn.
But it was too late for poor Penny. She’d already received the letter. And it went like this:
Hello Penny.
It’s because of people like you that I’m no longer attending Porsha High (alive) and haven’t been for the past 15 years. Now, you see, being a victim isn’t fun. Calling Colette ugly was not okay and pushing her earlier today was not either. But you know that, don’t you? If you do, you should also know that in this world, you take an eye, an eye is taken from you. So saying sorry was not enough. You have 3 days to decide how you’re going to pay your debt which is your life. 3 DAYS, and if you haven’t done it by 12 o’clock at night on Thursday then I WILL. And if I kill you, you won’t ever find happiness again, even in the afterlife. Either do it yourself and be happy or wait for me to do it and never, ever be happy again. Good luck...you’re going to need it. Ta-ta for now, but I do believe I’ll see you later, because you’ll be dead like me.
P.S., I know where you live.
Claurice.
Penny walked into her parents room as soon as she got home, pale, and sickly. “We should make the most of the next three days because they’re our last.” They just stared at each other, confused. She walked out and threw up into her hands, crying, and screaming, “Why me?!”
Moments later she felt excruciating pain in her right arm and noticed a message was being engraved deep into her skin. She screamed in agony until the scraping came to an end, despite the pain still being there. When she looked down at her right arm, the engraved message read, “AN EYE 4 AN EYE.” She soon noticed her left arm was being engraved with a message as well which she read as soon as the scraping and screaming stopped. It read, “A LIFE 4 A LIFE”
Suddenly her parents called her into their bedroom. “Penny...we need to talk.”
They showed her a newspaper titled “14 Year Old Girl Bullied To Death-Colette Freeman” and with that she ran out of their room, into the bathroom and found some pills which she consumed 20 of before her parents caught her and called an ambulance which sent her to the hospital.
But it was too late, at the hospital her IV had somehow become unplugged and her breathing had stopped.
The footage in the hospital room showed no signs of anyone touching the cord except a young, teenage girl with shoulder-length blonde hair and green eyes (with one lazy eye) who smiled a beautiful, big smile, showing off her pearly white teeth at the camera just before it mysteriously turned off.
The girl was identified as the same girl who’d commited suicide 15 years ago, Claurice.
Later investigators found a note left by Clarice which read,
Thinking about taking an eye? The real question is, are YOU willing to give up your own eye? Make someone a victim and you may soon become the next victim. Think before you do or YOU may just become the next Penny.
And never forget, I know where you live.
Claurice.
