Chickens catching bugs

My Fairy Tale

By megangochoaPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Chick was born with a good voice, good at both singing and storytelling, and often wins prizes in competitions. He dreamed of becoming the big rooster in the village, which is the highest honor for every rooster, and he was confident that he could step into that position.

However, the mother asked the chick to learn the skill of catching insects.

The chick didn't understand and asked his mother, "Why do I need to catch bugs when I can surely become a big rooster that crows in the future?"

The mother told the chick, "No one knows what will happen in the future, but it never hurts to master one more skill."

Although the chicken didn't quite understand what his mother said, he did what she said.

The chicken first followed his mother to learn how to catch insects, but when he saw her in the field, walking step by step, checking little by little, carefully examining large farmland, the chicken felt that it was too tiring.

At night, the chick asked her mother, "Why do we have to work so hard to catch bugs?"

Mom said, "If we don't get rid of the pests in the fields, we won't be able to harvest the crops and everyone will go hungry."

The chick said, "But I think it's too tiring to catch bugs like mom, I want to learn a more advanced way to catch bugs!"

So the next day, the chicken went to visit the woodpecker, a master insect catcher, to learn from him how to catch insects.

The woodpecker asked, "Can you fly?"

The chicken said, "No."

The woodpecker then asked, "Do you have sharp claws?"

The chick said, "No."

The woodpecker asked again, "Can you grow a long beak?"

The chick said, "No."

The woodpecker said, "If you can't fly, you can't see the trees from the air; if you don't have claws, you can't stand still on a tall pole; and if you don't have a long break, you can't catch the bugs hiding inside the trees."

The chick asked, "So is there anything I can do?"

The woodpecker thought about it and said, "You could look under the trees; I think there are lots of bugs in the grass, too."

The chicken thought that would be similar to his mother's job, so he said goodbye to the woodpecker and went to visit another master insect catcher, the spider.

The spider looked at the chick and simply said, "Just follow me for a while and learn."

The chick watched the spider's methods from the sidelines while he was catching bugs. The spider spat out long threads of silk, compiled into a huge web, and then rested, and in a short time, the spider's web was filled with bugs. The chick thought it was great to get the job done so easily.

The chicken found a ball of wool and a bottle of glue and followed the spider's example, first using the wool to make up a web and then applying glue to the wool, with the result that before he could catch the bugs, he was wrapped in a ball of wool.

The spider rescued the chick and said to him, "It seems you are not suitable to follow me to learn how to catch bugs. Your mother is also a very good bug catcher, so why don't you follow her and learn?"

This time he began to learn seriously from his mother, no longer being capricious and trying hard to make progress every day.

In this way, the little chicken grew up, and not only did he succeed in becoming the big rooster in charge of beeping, but also because he had a great skill in catching insects, many farms were eager to invite him to work. At this time, he understood what his mother said, one more skill can help more people!
